^^^ Actually I have worked in the domestic/sexual violence field before and the chance that you'll be murdered after leaving goes up 85%

Dude may have had her financially strapped or threatened her with hurting her children if she left...
So she stuck it out to ensure their lives. She'd take the brunt of his anger 'cuz maybe she wasn't necessarily afraid of it, more that she could tolerate it and knew that her kids could not. Kinna like when the father's a sexual child abuser and molests his 3 year old daughter till she's outta the house and the mother knows all about it and does nothing to stop it... We will never know what goes on in the mind of the criminally insane... This situation is sad :( |
I volunteer at a restraining order clinic. I hear stories week after week from women who are victims of domestic violence. I interviewed a woman tonight who remained married for 17 years and endured physical and verbal abuse. I never ask why they don't leave. It takes a strong person to get the courage to leave. She did say that she just didn't have the strength to and if he were allowed to come back into the home, she would not be able to proceed with the divorce filing because he would just break her down again.
