they had been doing clips of the movie on "the today show" last month, and what i saw was very good. like the other ladies, i had not thought of tom hanks for the lead role, but at least in the clips he did a good job, and i was able to accept him in his role. i can't wait!!

And no, I don't see Tom Hanks (who seems to have put on the pounds) as Robert Langdon at all. |
I have no problem with Tom Hanks as an actor, but he wasn't who I envisioned in this role at all.

MysticCat81,
Inner. I thought about Lincoln's but realized that I knew almost no one there and I knew a few BVC students, Pupil Barristers, junior members of the bar, and even a couple of Benchers at Inner. What really clinched it for me was a look at an old yearbook from seven or eight years back when they used to list all the members of the Inn. When I saw Horace Rumpole listed among the real members I figured I had found a good home. Of course, John Mortimer, QC is a bencher of the Inn so I suppose his literary creation would naturally be enrolled with Inner. |

My coworkers and I have talked about this and I really think it should have been a no-name person in the role. This way we wouldn't have any preconceived notions of whether the actor is the right fit for the role or not based upon their past movies. I do like Tom Hanks and think he will do a good job, just still not what I pictured in my mind while reading the book. I think one of the big things in my mind is Langdon as mid to late 30's to early 40's at the oldest. |
It's coming closer now ...

Like most other people I think Tom Hanks is a wonderful actor, I just don't think he is right for this role. The whole time I was reading the DaVinci Code, the Robert Langdon in my head bore a striking resemblance to Liam Neeson... :p

i'm very pumped for this movie, as I'm a big Dan Brown fan.
I just got my tix for 730 on the 19th via Fandango. |
I am seeing it next Wed as I will be reviewing it for the media outlet I work for. :) Will let you all know my brief thoughts on it. It is the movie I've most been looking fwd to this year!
|
Totally agree on the Tom Hanks issue. Langdon is clearly supposed to be that intellectual/professor sexy. He always gets a girl in Dan Brown's books! :)
I went to Saint Sulpice when I was in Paris a few weeks ago to see the rose line and the obelisk. We also wished we had reread the Louvre part before we went because we stared at one of the paintings that was supposed to be "coded" by DaVinci, but we coudlnt' remember what to look for! :( |
Who will be seeing it premier this Friday?
|
Early reviews are indicating that this movie sucks and Tom Hanks' performance does as well.
|
Saw it last night. Early reviews are way off. Its intellectual, and I think that puts some reviewers off. But other than being too long, I really really really enjoyed it.
