This case was one of the ones recently covered on E! True Hollywood Story regarding hazing. The show started with the Chad Meredith case at the Univ. of Miami and went on to discuss Florida's strong laws against hazing due to his death.

Apparently the two guys who were "in charge" of the beating of the pledges were both given 2 years in prison. This Marcus Jones guy was beaten so badly and had nowhere to go except to his father's house, which was 250 miles away. He required surgery from the beating. The father was very upset and outspoken against what happened to his son and was also on the show.

This is one of the dumbest "traditions" I've heard of a chapter doing, and I've heard some REALLY stupid ones over the years. It's really sad to think that this comes from a fraternity whose ideals are very traditional in its views of brotherhood.

I'm really not sure what it was I just deleted, but it looked an awful lot like posting rumors/hearsay. The rest of the thread appears to be ok. Either people are quoting directly from media sources (who I assume are somewhat careful about what they print) or they're condemning the bad behavior.

He could potentially be from Ithaca College - those music majors, while lovely people, aren't always the best spellers.

SUNY Ithaca is a slam on Cornell (people think it shouldn't be a part of or even compared to an Ivy League).
