Purses, makeup, expensive clothes, cars. Anything. She'll be daddys little princess. Is it bad that I already know I'll be like this :( ?
I'm a little in love with Bobby now. :) I consider myself a daddy's girl and I know I wouldn't understand if I had a daughter that didn't get the same treatment from her daddy.

I was "cut-off" in a way...it wasn't a real rude awakening becuase I knew it was coming....but it was a blow....

and you then appreciate everything you did have and everything you acquire now....its a character building thing and a live lesson.....

these are good things

You're right. These daddys on the show-- like my friend's daddy, are not doing their daughters any favors. They're teaching their children that love equals money and material items. How sad for them. How will they ever expect to find "real love?" Instead, they're both looking for "sugar daddy's" to marry.

There's nothing wrong with a family giving their children nice things-- but there is a way to do it.

These daddys are also making their children dependent.

I have another friend whose father owns three car dealerships-- and is in a similar situation (although not quite as rich). She complains because her mother uses money to control her. If she doesn't do exactly what mommy wants, she's afraid she'll be cut off.

I asked her why she doesn't just do her own thing and make her own way... and she said, "But how could I continue my payments on my Mercedes?" Now mind you, my friend is in her late 30's! Mommy and daddy are paying her mortgage, taxes, utilities. car payments... everything. I honestly don't think she would know how to survive without her parents paying for everything.

So, she has pretty much made a deal with the devil. She puts up with mommy controlling her life in exchange for money.

Now let's compare that with yet another friend of mine whose father is a big entertainment attorney with lots and $'s. (Again, not on the scale as my friend who I went to Las Vegas with, but still definately in the million dollar catagory.)

She has always had nice things growing up, but she also had chores to do and got an allowance. That allowance was not in the hundreds of dollars per week-- but rather in the scale that most of us had growing up.

She enjoyed lovely family vacations to Europe with her family, had a gorgeous bedroom suite (actually it was more of a "wing" of the house-- she moved out a long time ago, but I've seen it when I go with her to visit her family-- complete with spiral staircase and her own upper loft!) and got very nice gifts on her birthday and Christmas.. but her parents didn't "spoil" her in the way these girls are being spoiled on the TV show. She worked for money at home and even had a job in high school at a Burger place.

She's self sufficient, has worked her butt off in college, and, like her dad... is now an attorney. She makes her own way, and does her own investing. She knows the value of a dollar, and seems a lot happier than my two other friends because she has the pride of cashing a check and knowing that she earned it.

IMO she is probably going on 40...and she's at least 34!!

Is she the one who got Daddy to throw her a going-away party (she was moving to LA to be an actress)?

And then decided NOT to go away??

Yeah!!

She had that AWFUL hairdo that made it look like her hair-line was receeding, and she got botox (her dad even joked that the dog versace gets botox too).

Some of these dads, like the orange dude and maybe the one with the plump country-western singer daughter, just gave off this squicky incest vibe and it gave me the willies.

kdonline 03-31-2006 04:24 PM

LOL@ "the orange dude."

OMG, do you think he just got orange for the show, or is he always like that?

How can anyone in the business world take him seriously when he looks like that!?

I don't know which I like to make fun of more - the daughters or the fathers!!!!!!
