I say if it is a private function like a chapter retreat, etc, or you are a neo--do your thing. Otherwise, folx will grow out it in their own time. But to jump someone, or assume they are "paper"--
I guess I am with you on this one, soror. I don't care how much 'nalia one has on as long as it is respectable, tasteful and she is representing in her behavior and demeanor.

Frankly, I have more of a problem with folks wearing ANY 'nalia and acting a fool, esp in public.

I couldn't agree with you more! Fortunate for me I haven't ran into too many Sorors actin' a fool with 'nalia on but I wouldn't hesitate to have a sisterly word with them if I did.

When it comes to 'nalia I just do what feels comfortable for me- I personally don't like to wear more than one piece of 'nalia at a time. Like I said, I do what feels right to me.

In my chapter, old heads would tell us that it was not cool to double up on 'nalia. The reasons are because people will think that your "paper" or that you'll be an easy target to charged up!!!

PrettyBoy 05-19-2007 02:48 AM

Yup. Rule of thumb at my chapter, is to never double up on greak gear.

KAPital PHINUst 05-21-2007 02:17 PM

I only wear one piece of nalia at any given time; no need to double or triple up, especially considering that wearing the colors in lieu of the letters is usually sufficient.

In the SC I have seen people over do it, hell I just crossed, so for about two weeks I over did it, (been looking at Crimson and Cream just wanting to sport it), but I learned quickly that being a Kappa meant carrying yourself differently. No offense to others but hell there ain't nothing like a Kappa man with or without gear on.

I agree with you. I honestly didn't know there were "rules" as such until I "heard" folks talking about it here on GC. And yes, I have been guilty of 'nalia overkill, so to speak, but I do like wearing my 'nalia. And I am still known to wear more than one piece at a time.

I saw a woman with AKA nails one day... Is that considered overkill?

I think you can get away with a shirt and jacket if you are going to a Greek event. But in those cases, tuck in the lanyard and wear a different hat or bag.

ETA: I am three in Alpha and seven in APO, so I guess I am more of a veteran now, lol

I'm with you on this one.;)

My dad pledged Kappa in '53 (Beta Chapter). He wears his 50-year pin on his lapel and on very special fraternity occasions or at Omega Omega services, he will wear a red blazer with the crest on it. He has gotten all kinds of hats and shirts over the years but he never wears them -- not his style.

I just crossed a month ago and I guess I'm a chip off the old block. I have a charm with the letters that I wear on my chain and a little paddle in the rearview mirror of my car and that's pretty much all I "wear" consistently. I have a little pinky ring too but I don't wear it everyday. I wore a t-shirt and a hat when our chapter participated in a charity walk recently, and that was a "lot" for me.

Kodak1911 05-27-2007 10:38 PM

I never wear two pieces of pary at the same time. The only thing I normally wear is my dog tag and the KAY on my keychain. If I have a shirt on, I won't have the dog tag on. I have two hates (both are the same actually) and I've never worn them...
