The colors didn't have anything to do with the rating of the book. I did not intend to offend anyone. I was stating my like or dislike for a color and pink has never been a color that I liked no matter what organization the color represents. I am sorry that you took what I said the wrong way. I have friends and family members who represent and like the color pink, but they know that it has never been a favorite of mine from my tomboy days. Again, I am sorry if anyone was offended by my comment.:) |
I wasn't personally offended I just couldn't understand your logic for putting that in your post.:)

Cane River
I'm reading "Cane River" by Lalita Tademy. I know it was an "Oprah" selection, but I'm reading it in spite of that fact :D
I'm only on chapter 6, but so far it's an engaging and informative read. |
I am reading "The Brethren" by John Grisham. It's very, very good.

I'm reading Straight No Chaser: How I Became a Grown-Up Black Woman by Jill Nelson, after finding it in a closeout bookstore.
I'd read Volunteer Slavery, her first book, when it came out about seven years ago or so. Volunteer Slavery is an all-time favorite of mine. |
I recently read No Disrespect by Sister Souljah.
SoTrue, Why you gotta be an Oprah hater? :p |

The list is long... but I have respect for her in that she managed to do something that others haven't been able to do on a widespread scale -- she made reading (and critical reading at that) cool again. For that, she gets many props in my book. But I'm so darned contrary anyway -- even if I like the books she selects, I read them well after the fact just cause I don't want to be seen as a member of the Church of Oprah. ;) |
I am a BOOK-A-HOLIC
I just finished For the Love of Money the sequel to Omar Tyree's Flyy Girl it was good, not as good as the first but good. I also love Arabesque novels as a filler when I can't find lengthier books to read. I have read most of the books on this list. Including most books by non-African Americans. The V.C. Andrews collections are great reads.
Flowers in the Attic The Wildflowers Series, If there be Thorns, etc. I am now reading "The Partner" by John Grisham, so far it is very good. |
Reading is FUNdamental!

I just read The Red Moon, Tuwana Hausley ( I probably spelled the name wrong though) It's a book about a girl coming of age in Kenya. It deals with female genital mutilation, inter-cultural relationships, college life amog other things. Very good book, I couldn't put it down.
