It makes the voice hoarse and raspy. It will deepen the voice so that it becomes harder to hit high notes. Overtime, your voice deepens naturally but Ashlee is causing this to happen much sooner.

I think Ashlee has actual talent. I don't think she presents herself well in public, but she can actually sing. I was a music major - vocal empasis - in college, and I recognize that she has technique. I believe that it's unfortunate that she's Jessica's sister and gets labeled as "She only made it because her sister did".

Also, I love the people who are like, "It's too bad Jessica got all the talent in the family." I don't know that much about singing, but it's obvious that Jessica forces her vibrato like crazy, which is not good technique.

My friend I discussed it and realized that at this point, Jessica and Ashlee both have about the same amount of hits, and Ashlee's accomplished it in a much shorter time period than Jessica. I'm not sure if that's funny or scary.

Anyway, I don't particularly like either one's music, but I think that in terms of personality, Ashlee's image is just more inherently relatable. We don't relate to the perfect virginal golden girl airhead whose biggest problems is that her boobs are too big. We relate to the younger sister who feels like she's always been in the other one's shadow, who's always screwing up a little bit (or a lot). I agree that Ashlee would never have had the success she did without Jessica, but it's not just because Jessica made it into the music business first -- it's because without Jessica's "perfect" image to play off, people would never have liked Ashlee. Her insecurities and screw-ups and the inevitable comparisons between the two sisters are what appealed to a lot of people.

I agree with this....its hard to feel sorry or identify with Jessica. But you can with Ashlee.

Also something about Jessica that I hate: I hate watching her perform. It's like she's forcing everything she does!! It wear me out just watching it. I feel like I ran a marathon after she sings one song.

But anyway......who is this Carly girl?

Carly Patterson.. she is an olympic gold medalist in gymnastics. I believe she is from the DFW area which is why it's big news here

You know what weird, random thought I just had...I just thought to myself it's too bad Joe Simpson and Lynn Spears didn't marry each other rather than their respective spouses. Their kid would've been the most overexposed pop star ever (both media-wise and clothing-wise). She would have been like Paris Hilton but able to sing.

Well, maybe not able to sing, but she definitely would've had a huge singing career anyway. ;)
