I like both Ann Taylors. I tried on the first one earlier and loved it (although my bank account wouldn't let me buy it).

This newest AT dress is great, and a great price. It's also very versatile to be worn again for a variety of functions that you can dress up or down. Try it on and go for it. Have fun at the wedding and I hope you find a dress you love :)

This dress looks pretty on the AT Loft website.

Personally, I am reluctant to wear a strapless dress to a church wedding, but I see you didn't mention a church.

I love the strapless brown dress from ann taylor. I was in there the other day and it is so cute. We have a cocktail for my Graduate School Association and I was thinking about getting that dress for the cocktail.
I would wear a strapless dress in church but I guess it depends on the church. :)

i'm going to use a wrap while in church...perhaps the cream one from jcrew?

I like both of the Ann Taylors better than the JCrew but the pale blue one that UKTriDelt showed is the best. IMHO it is very classic and perfect for a wedding.

That J.Crew chiffon dress was gorgeous, but still very Spring-y.

I agree that strapless is a little dangerous for weddings, especially one that's not taking place in summer, much less spring. Wraps are fine, but I think strapless is more cocktail party friendly than wedding attire. If you're set on the dress, you could throw on a cardigan, so that no one would know that the dress was strapless.

Can someone remind me if 5:30 is considered afternoon or evening for wedding attire? I don't know whether to wear a cocktail dress, or something a little less formal...

I like both brown dresses and the Jcrew Avery dress, although I'm not such a fan of navy. The "suggested" shrug on the Ann Taylor Loft site is cute, but I'd do gold shoes instead of brown and big earrings.

Weddings that begin later than 6:00pm are considered formal (100-200 guests); weddings that begin later than 6:00pm (with 200+ guests) are considered very formal.

Since the wedding you're attending begins at 5:30, I would go with a cocktail dress (however, keep in mind the number of guests invited -- more guests = more formal; less guests = less formal).

Hope that helps!

there are some gorgeous dresses on the ann taylor website under the heading "celebrations". click "head to toe".

of the dresses you have shown most recently, the ann taylor loft dress is nice. the j. crew dress sounds like it is made of beautiful fabric, but i couldn't help but think of those terrycloth empire-waist, strapless dresses everyone was wearing a year or two ago.
