I became addicted to Greek Chat in college after stumbling upon the site one day while I was bored. I found it to be a fun place to chitchat, see what greek life was like at other schools, etc. Now that I have been out of college for a few years, I don't visit the site as much as I used to - simply not that much free time any more. I sometimes go months without checking the boards. And I have to say that this has degenerated into almost a completely negative place. I cannot read a single thread anymore that does not have rude sarcasm, inappropriate comments, and just plain meanness. Even when people have something of substance to contribute or when they are trying to offer real advice, their posts are met with snide remarks. If I was not a greek visiting this site, it would give me a horrible impression of greeks as a whole. All this hem-hawing high school name calling crap. I appreciate wit as much as the next guy, but no one can contribute anything of substance on this site without being met with ill-founded, mean-spirited criticism. The great thing about Greek Chat is that it should be a place where greeks can share their common experience and be proud of being greek. We should be able to find here the same spirit that made us join our orgs to begin with. That's a hard thing to find around here now, and that's very sad. Shame on you.

I'd form a "horrible impression of greeks" if I thought they were all uptight and lacking a sense of humor, but hey, it takes all kinds.

KS at GSU is VERY exclusive. It's so exclusive, they didn't even bid Jesus.

Have a nice day.

Valkyrie, if you knew me, you'd know me to be the most easy-going, humor-loving person. And if you'd read any of my other responses on this site, you'd know that. But you have to agree that there's a lot more negativity on this site than there used to be (I see you're a senior member, been on since 2001). I see that as a problem and decided to call you out on it. But clearly there is no pleasing some people on this site, perhaps myself included, so I won't comment any more on the matter, except to say that I find you insufferable and I'm glad you don't wear my letters.

Awesome! Someone like you calling me insufferable is quite a compliment.

It amazes me that people took this thread so seriously.

Second. I love threads started by people called "fratty".

OMG!!! TEH VALKYRIE IS INSUFFERABLE!!!

I love it when people stay away for long periods of time and come out of the woodworks just to call other GCers 'insufferable'. AWESOME.

That's a pretty hateful statement.

That's funny because I also joined GC in 2001. The climate was the same then as it is now. In fact, GC has gotten a little BETTER since 2001.

But you were mean as well. Contributing to the problem, if there is one, doesn't help fix it.

Your letters? The ZTA's at my school are better known as the T & A house, because they can't keep their Z from getting ripped off. Or, was it for another reason? :o <--

Dianne - know your role.

HEY NOW are you disrespecting MY T & A?! I'll have you know that they're real and they're fabulous. AND INSUFFERABLE.

So, you wanna start something with the ZTAs? Or do you just have some unresolved issues?

Don't insult us all just because we have one member that wants to use our letters as she pleases.

Okay, I'd like to comment on something.

GC was the first time I ever heard of anyone being offended for being referred to as a "frat boy." Or that it was not cool to say we were going to a "frat party."

But, whatever.

ditto
