The bottom line is like it or not, our respective sorors gave these guys the jackets to wear and from I have heard, probably did a similar thing in the frats' nalia.

Since these are not Delta Gents (referring to the pic over on DST) nor Miakas, who should you really be angry with?

I should be, and am peeved with my sorors who thought it was cute to participate in such bastardization of the culture of our organization.

And I hear ya. But don't we have bigger fish to fry? This is rather harmless (since all parties agree to participate) v. the issue of perps, Gents/Beaux, and Miakas. I also think we should be concentrating on the uncertified vendors who display our symbols in the wrong colors, or on questionable products.

I understand where everyone is coming from, but let's marshal that same anger and energy to folx who have no clue about our symbols and use them merely to make money off of us.

So if you feel that strongly about it, then educate our respective sorors on why it isn't right for just anyone to wear our symbols. But if you do that, then just remember that it may even apply to the My Mother/Aunt/Grandmother is... shirts.

My point exactly! It is NOT okay, or cute or....whatever. I understand that this is an NPHC thing at this school in which (I believe) all orgs participate. The NPHC should not be perpetuating such foolishness because it serves no comprehensible purpose.

These "My Mother/Aunt/Grandmother is... shirts" don't often have the actual symbols on them. I have seen some that do and the vendor as well as the appropriate Delta officials were notified though I am not sure what has come of that issue.

On that note, I have bought the "My Mother/Aunt/Grandmother is a D-E-L-T-A shirts" with the word spelled out but never with the actual symbols because only duly initiated members are allowed to wear them, no one else REGARDLESS OF THE PERMISSION GIVEN BY SAID MEMBERS, esp as shown above.

I also agree that we need to crack down on vendors who sell inappropriate 'nalia and those members who buy it and/or accept them as gifts. However, I see that as a seperate and unrelated issue.

I agree that uncertified vendors and perps are issues as well. But like mccoyred said, I feel that they are seperate issues. Suddenly everyone is talking about "bigger fish to fry" as if there is some competition among issues. Right now we are discussing this particular issue and these are my opinions regarding it. I don't think that anyone is saying this issue more important than keeping or members active, or reclamation of members or any other issue facing our organizations. It just so happens to be the topic of discussion at this moment.
