"So far" being the operative words here. With even some of his GOP backers questioning some of the things going on at the moment, the mid-term elections will be pretty interesting.

I think it's possible there will be a backlash among we moderates who are a little weary of the conservative and Christian agendas being thrown at us.

I'm pretty damned tired of all the rhetoric, but I'm more afraid of the infringement(s) on personal liberties and expansion of executive power.

Infringement on your personal liberties by whom? Were you upset with the liberal California senators who participated in it or perhaps the NSA who did it before the President knew? You'll say yes, but you make it seem as if it's just a Presidential thing.

The fact is that generational values determine who has government power for 40 years. Voters don't just go "Oh I don't like Republican, me vote Democrat now".

The President gave the order.
WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 - The National Security Agency acted on its own authority, without a formal directive from President Bush, to expand its domestic surveillance operations in the weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks, according to declassified documents released Tuesday.

Those who knew at that time were: Nancy Pelosi of California and Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, Democrat of West Virginia.
