Truthiness is "stating concepts and facts one wishes or believes to be true, rather than concepts or facts known to be true."

In the good ole days, we commonly used "them lying newspapers" which means the same as truthiness.

I'm guessing you missed the point that the Colbert Report is a send-up of rabid conservative commentators like O'Rielly... and their general dislike of "facts". :p

Any examples you can cite?

PS: don't confuse facts and opinions. I know its hard for libs, Dems, & Bush haters.

Examples of what?

A - the fact that "Truthiness" comes from a show mocking conservative talking-heads or opinion shows?

B - that folks like O'Reilly, Coulter, Hannity, Carlson, Limbaugh, Matthews, or Scarborough (I'll only use US examples) like to play fast and very loose with "facts" or "reality" ~ ie. they are a big fan of 'Truthiness'.?

I know the difference between facts and opinions - I know it's hard for the anti-intellectual Republicans-lovers to accept... but there are those of us conservatives that think the bombastic morons screaming from the right do only harm, not good.

A - I've watched almost every Cobert Report, and don't share your opinion that it is mocking talking heads or opinion shows of any kind - it's humor.

B - If you're talking about Chris Matthews, he's a Dem (ex-asst. to Tip O'Neal) and a lib

Scarborough is on MSNBC - not available in Atlanta, no opinion. Ditto Carlson.

If you think Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly are "bombastic morons screaming", you don't spend much time listening/watching them. Nothing could be less accurate. Much of the MWODP continually tells the lie that they are "bombastic morons screaming", but I urge you to listen/watch and form your own opinion.

Ann Coulter is a unique case. Her only income is book sales and speeches, and she has a real talent for biting political comment. It's biting, and not "bombastic morons screaming".

Any examples of "like to play fast and very loose with "facts" or "reality" by these people?

You're kidding right?

Seriously you aren't getting the fact that Colbert is mocking certain conservative talking heads?

Ummm I do watch/listen... thats kinda where I developed my opinion of the moronic blowhards. I can count on one hand the number of times either of the above carried on an intelligent or fair debate or arguement about a subject.. the rest of the time it devolves into the same tired old routine of yelling, browbeating, and "moral outrage"... or who can talk or scream louder (if that fails just cut them off). Hannity does get into the yelling schtick as much, but he more than makes up for in the general stupidity of his observations or arguements...

So the fact she makes a living by being an outrageous or controversial "conservative" commentator is unique? Funny me but I thought all the others survive through their ratings and marketing merchandise as well...

Wow... don't know where to begin on this one... really there is such a plethora of falsehoods and misrepresentation I'm really at a loss...

The problem is this: it'd be hard for me to convince you that they do play fast and loose with facts if you live in a reality/bubble wherein you are convinced the media is a vast 'liberal' conspiracy.

But if you're willing to being you journey down the prevebial rabbit hole - why not start by looking into Bill O'Reilly's claims about his little "France Boycott" (start by trying to verify his sources and numbers) or his claims about the ACLU's "war on Christmas" (start by looking into how many ACLU cases are actually 'anti-Christmas' and how many defended Christmas) - you'll have to do the research yourself, because honestly I feel the search might do you some good... and of course you'd question anything I'd bring to the debate.
