Camden is right across the bridge from me, and I must admit there is no way that I am over there at night. I'm so glad that my cousin finally moved from there....because CAMDEN is no damn joke.

Thing is...

According to the way this is determined, I've lived in one dangerous city or another.

Born and raised in Gary, reside in the A-T-L.

Ahhh well!

Here's a better link that provides population figures:

I see two that I am pretty close to in the top ten-and one I used to live in- and to think I was considering Atlanta!

And at one point, I considered picking up and moving to Birmingham, AL with my fiancee when I finish with grad school and after we get married. I dunno about that now. :(

I'm not surprised to see Detroit near the top of the list at all. Even with all the improvements, it is still a very dangerous city.

I am shocked to see Troy as one of the safest cities. It is about 10 minutes from Detroit. I guess they are thinking that criminals don't have cars. Cars are always getting broken into at the mall out there, but maybe that doesn't count.

I saw a report on Camden and I seriously want to move there and be a high school teacher. AND, pull together a large prayer group to cover the city. I'm in prayer about this or something similar. I feel like cities like this need people there who will be prayer warriors and will try to make a difference. I would love to do anything I could to keep the students in school. My heart goes out to all the residents!

Do you remember when people would say, "Oh we are moving to the good side of town." Stop and think about it for a moment.............................. That doesn't exsist anymore, not sure really that it ever did. But even the best of neighborhoods and cities have crimes occuring everyday.
To me that's scary, but I keep God first and make the best of every day that I'm given.

Baltimore is #6 on the list. However, it was just reported on the local news that the police department discovered some *irregularities* in how crime statistics are being reported. Apparently, since crimes in 2004 were reported in 2005 and other issues, Baltimore is not as dangerous as they thought! ? Gotta keep those tourism dollars flowing, ya know

New Orleans should not be on this list. All of the criminals are elsewhere. :o

This must have been compiled prior to Katrina.

That is so true. Have all of the prisoners been found who 'left' during Katrina? What about the criminal records?

Is Camden really worse than Detroit and Baltimore? It's such a little place, isn't it?

I live in the heart of Detroit.

While it is #2, most crimes around here consists of petty larceny, burglary and car theft. I feel pretty safe in my neighborhood I guess.

I live in Bastrop (country azz town) Louisiana...

Yes, it's extremely dangerous. This one time (at band camp:D), the price of belt buckles (that light up and spell your name:eek: ) and pints of crown royal went up about 25 cents. We almost had the biggest riot this country has ever seen.
