Wow. With our org, we have membership cards. If someone rolled up, had a membership card in their name, that matched their ID, and could describe the ritual and secret meanings, then that would be good enough for me for the weekend. I have a few staffers cell phone numbers and I am sure they could have checked for us over the weekend, considering the circumstances.
Well I'd just say "in theory" that everyone has a membership card... although I can say (or used to be able to say) that most of the Toronto guys don't have a card...

Basically if they can at least pass the preliminary questions I'd welcome anyone claiming to be a Brother - erring on the side of caution to me is more noble than being overly cautious...

Check out The Today Show online, they came to our fraternity house today and ran a interesting piece. Also type in Sam Seyler and convicts, on Yahoo or Google and about 100 articles come up.

This has turned out to be truely one of the craziest stories I have ever been a part of. The guys kept a diary of all their events and plan to do something with it if (make a movie) or sell the rights if they ever get out of jail in the future. At the same time, this is a positive PR move for our fraternity for spring rush because everyone is talking about us in a positive way and we will be making interesting spring rush shirts that have the fugitives involved.
Something along the lines of "our parties are so hard we have fugitives busting out of jail to come to them". In the end, luckily nobody was hurt and we all learned a lesson about trusting random people, even if they seem like people in need of help.
