Bad PR (especially if this makes national media) = 99.9% chance of suspension/closure of chapter. Sad, but true fact.:( |
BeanBlossom, You are welcome anytime on LXA Thread.
As LXAAlum said, anytime there is noiteriaty of this nature, The Locals and IHQ will look very strongly at the situation. As Jono also asked, why arent the Underaged people cited as they know they are and can get people in a lot of trouble. I know, I know, age at that age is a balancing point from Kid to Adult. But, anytime a GLO is involved, Hell Fire and Brimstone break loose. Roy, please keep us update if you will. |
That article honestly PISSES me off! always have to mention the fraternity and the fraternity has nothing to do with the female getting raped. WTF! UTC better not get in trouble for this one..if they do...that would be messed up!!!

This just in: Six of the seven have now been charged with rape.
No updates on the chapter tho. http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_75530.asp |
New update on the chapter: On tonight's 11:00pm news, it was said that if the fraternity is found to have violated IHQ policies, UTC policies, or the local or state laws, they would be temporarily suspended from the university. The investigation is ongoing in regards to the Zeta.

I guarantee nothing went on that night at the LXA house that doesn't go on at the other houses on Oak and Vine Streets. Its a shame that LXA is taking the heat when this incident really didn't have anything to do with them.
I'm glad they are charging the 6 football players. Keep me posted - hard pressed to get updates out here in Dallas. |
On the AP wire it says that they were put on probation until the end of 2006, this is an extension of the probation due to "Noise Violations"
Lenoxxx Fraternity gets extended probation over party linked to rape case The Associated Press The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has extended the probation of a fraternity that hosted a party attended by an underage student who reported she got drunk there and later was raped by six football players. The Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity will be on probation until the end of 2006 for hosting a party at their off-campus house on Oct. 21 where alcohol was available for underage people, school officials said. "They did not take reasonable measures to protect against underage people drinking alcohol," said Jim Hicks, UTC's associate dean of student life and student development. The university also set a Jan. 12 disciplinary hearing for the players who have been charged, according to attorney Jerry Summers, who is representing football player Terrence Thomas, 20, from Lithonia, Ga. A criminal court hearing in the case is set for Jan. 18, Summers said. The other players charged with rape are Muhammad Ahmad Abdus-Salaam, 19, of Atlanta; Lironnie Davis, 19, of Macon, Ga.; DeJuan Payne, 21, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; Cori Stukes, 22, of Wilmington, N.C. and Larry White, 21, of College Park, Ga. According to a police report, the girl said she was drinking at the Lambda Chi Alpha party and then was taken to Thomas' apartment, where the other players repeatedly sexually assaulted her. The fraternity was already on probation for noise complaints, Hicks said. --- Information from: Chattanooga Times Free Press, |
