Our current sweetheart is just a really close friend of all of our sisters. At the time, none of my sisters had boyfriend at our school, so we nominated the next best thing, our closest guy friend in another fraternity.
Currently, he is dating a girl in a different sorority, and it doesn't really cause too much problem. Although his gf's sorority has reported us for STUPID things, we still like his girlfriend and she is very respectfulof him as our sweetheart. He is a great sweetheart and we wouldnt trade him for anything, other GLO girlfriend or not!

:)

Shouldn't be an issue

I am the White Rose sweetheart for Sigma Tau Gamma at Monmouth. I am actually dating the president, so within the fraternity is not a problem. I doubt it would be a problem crossing fraternities, which is even more disconnected. I would just flat out check with their president if you're afraid it would be an issue. Just be prepared for an entire chapter to be her "big brother" in the sense that they'll be really protective of her :)

dating a sweetheart

Shouldn't be an issue. Be tactful with whatever you decide to do with the future of the relationship.

It really shouldn't be an issue. I was a Pi Lambda Phi sweetheart one year, and Beta Theta Pi the following year (two different campuses, by the way). In my case(s), it was because I knew a lot of the guys in the house from tutoring (Beta Theta Pi), being in my own GLO, cheerleading and student government (Pi Lambda Phi). I treated them all like they were my brothers (I have a bunch of those so it was easy!). At the time I was sweetheart to both, I was seeing someone who was a Delta Tau Delta brother.

Okay, you know what? All that just made my campus and the schools around it sound kind of sleazy, didn't it?

i love being a sweetheart! [/B]
I was a little sister in college, and these were exactly my sentiments too! :)

This topic seems to be incredibly controversial today. A lot of people simply don't understand the "little sister" thing. I guess it depends on where you went to school, part of the country, etc. I never took being a "little sister" as being in a 2nd "sorority" - it was just a great way to meet more people, make new contacts, etc. AOII always came first, because I am a MEMBER of that organization. I never dated any of the brothers, and I was never told whom to date. Actually, one of the brothers is still one of my best friend's today (I was recently in his wedding). I guess it's like anything else - a few negative experiences overshadow the positive ones.

Little sisters still exist today in some fraternities, though not officially recognized.
