Though, I did have an ex who had one fake tooth.... His got knocked out playing soccer or something in high school. |
smoking is trashy... and I am a smoker... and well, then I would never be allowed to wear my letters... although it would be a good tactic to help quit...

When i was going through rush I distinctly remember walking by one house on my way home and saw about 10 of the actives still in their rush outfits...smoking. I had dropped that house the same night for other reasons, but it just looked SO tacky that I was really glad I had already dropped them. I don't think there's ever really anything attractive about smoking...and it's certainly still not attractive when you're representing an entire group of people. I would have been pissed if I had ever seen someone smoking in my letters.

Tackiness is not something many of you have a right to speak on unless you're willing to finally admit you're speaking from experience.

We weren't allowed to smoke while wearing letters nor were we allowed to smoke in front of the house. We had a back patio on the first floor & a deck on the second floor of the house where sisters were allowed to smoke.
As for recruitment-you weren't allowed to smoke all day since we didn't want any of the girls smelling like smoke. When I smoked (I've since quit smoking regularly) it was torture on lunch breaks to look outside our back door & see girls from other sororities lighting up cigarettes on their porches while we couldn't smoke! |
I think smoking is disgusting, but I don't think that smoking while wearing letters is any worse than just smoking in general. I've seen lots of girls smoking in their letters, and it doesn't make me think less of them. Like 33girl said, if you think it's so bad, you shouldn't be doing it, in letters or not.

I didn't do it in my letters, and I can see how some people would be bothered by it. But truth is, there is someone out there who will be bothered by just about anything. Truth be told, I suppose I would rather not see someone smoking wearing my letters, but I don't think it makes TOO much of a difference. |
