Ok....it's the middle of October and I haven't received my Torch yet. Should I be worried? :( I was so looking forward to getting mine.

betasigrose 10-16-2005 11:42 PM

Hi! I would email The Torch at torch@betasigmaphi.org and tell them you haven't received yours yet. It might have gotten lost in the mail..I'd try emailing them and see what they say. Make sure you use your member number so they can look you up in the computer faster.
Good luck and hope that helps!

Jamie

Done deal Jamie! Things have been so crazy down here in south Louisiana that I'm sure it's either stuck somewhere it shouldn't be (i.e. New Orleans) or just maybe got returned to sender like some of mail has done. I was sooooooo looking forward to getting mine though. *pouts*

Beta LOVE,
Bernadette

Hi Bernadette,
I'm glad that you are safe! Where you hit badly by the Hurricane?
Hugs
Jamie
I'd be pouting too!

Well we were both fortunate and cursed. For Katrina, our next door neighbors house burned to the ground. We had no electricity for a week. Our population of Baton Rouge doubled over night. We luckily had no damage from either storm. It's a whole new world down here. My boyfriend lost his camp for Rita. Totally wiped out a small community called Holly Beach. Only thing left of the town is the water tower. I cried for hours. We are alive and kicking. We have survived worse and we too shall survive this. Just keep everyone in your prayers.

Bernadette,
You and your family will indeed be in my prayers. It must be horrible to go through this. "That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger."
All my love to you and yours
Jamie

Bernadette:

Glad to hear you're OK. I went through Baton Rouge on my way home from the evacuation--it normally takes us an hour and 1/2 to New Orleans from there. Took us 3 hours. It has grown. What a zoo!

Anyway, I'm OK also. The roof on the house next door to me caved in--could have been us, but we were fortunate. We just got some roof damage and some damage to the front of the house. The rest was OK. We had to throw away our outside fridge, but our inside one survived.

Come to think of it, I haven't received my Torch, either. Could be lost in the whole New Orleans mail system.

*sigh*

Katrina is no match for my sisters!

I'm so glad to hear that you are okay too! I was beginning to get worried...God is Great!
Big Beta Hugs to you

I wonder what all it would take to get hired as the Torch editor when the position eventually comes open, lol...

As paying members you would think that if enough of us complained and demanded change that something would get done.......our fees PAY for the Torch so it should be outstanding and up to par with what we pay i would think????

With so many sisters there should never be a shortage of news or stories to print. Also if cost is an issue why not increase dues to reflect a sign of the times? I liekd getting my torch every month prior to the new torch. If it was better, i'd enjoy it every other month like they are trying to do. But something is going to have to give somewhere. I would rather have a quarterly magazine that is outstanding, than an every other month crappy magazine. I love Beta Sigma Phi, my sisters, and I always look forward to my magazine, but the need for improvements for the Torch atleast can no longer be ignored. Just my opinions...... :(

Hi ThetaPrincess24 & others,

The only update they have made to the Torch was go full colorization which was a big change from the black and white version of the Torch. I see things changing about 10 yrs from now unless we get an influx of younger women joining BSP.

I wouldn't mind paying an extra $12/yr to better the Torch and help update the Int'l office.

Edited: for typos.

I'm glad to read that those that were in the paths of (storms)Katrina and Rita are okay.:)

The Paw Pack 01-08-2006 10:02 AM

The Torch getting to us and actually being fully updated is getting about as slow as the website getting done.

It is as though there is no enthusiasm at International. It is just a job and they do what they have to in order to get the bare bones done. I'm just really frustrated with the whole situation right now.
