Umm, I never expect a car to last more than 10 years anyway. After 10 years, I've got about 200,000 miles on it.

I think that ultimately, it's not being done because it's not being pushed. Al Gore was ripped up one side and down the other for saying that the combustion engine needed to be gotten rid of. It made him a liberal fascist and un-American to suggest that we worry about the environment or energy conservation. The auto companies and oil companies are too powerful to change.

I know for a FACT that a large oil company (I won't say which due to propriatory reasons) is the main backer behing R&D of biofuels. Why? Because if they can get the technology, they are in business forever, due to our large supply of trees and grasses.

I know that it would take a combination between the auto industry and science to create something. I think if they really wanted to they could. The key words are wanted to. Think of all the things that have been invented in the past 100+ years.

stuff like that costs a lot of money.

maybe in 10 years, it'll be cheaper...and the amount she might have saved on gas might be comparable.
