Two brothers from my chapter just transferred there. I will call them and ask them whats going on. From what I know the chapter isn't stong at all with only 8 or 9 members, and they've had problems before with other sexual type things.

Yeah... not like I've know girls to shower at my chapter...

I do have to respect the Brother that came to the girl's aid... personally I'd have called the cops after the other "brother" had been beaten to a pulp....

Did they get totally nude?

Im proud of the guy for pulling the first person off of the girl (allegedly). However this is in the hand of IHQ and law enforcement. Im sure someone here will get the dirt on this to let us know what happened

Tell that to Colorado State.

If this story breaks on major news networks - doesn't matter - they will be toast. Same that happened at CSU - not guilty - still closed.

Negative publicity is as bad as an actual incident such as this in the eyes of IHQ. Their track record proves it.

I'm not necessarily saying this is a bad thing, by the way. CSU needed to close for other reasons than what was publicly stated. Besides, the stigma something like a rape allegation creates is the same as having a radioactive chapter house.

I just wish IHQ would be more forthcoming as to why certain chapters REALLY get closed.

LXAAlum, I could not agree more with You.

We are not kids being set down for time out but Grown Adults and if there is a Major Problem it would be nice to be informed.

Reaon being, maybe this will help other Zetas to keep from doing the same stupid things.

Things like this Hurt not only the Zeta, but the total of LXA.

From some of the things that I have heard they were having problems before this.:( But, this was the fizz that blew the cork out of the bottle.

I suggested to Betsy Bly that when Zetas are De-Chartered then it and the reasons should be placed in the C & C. Maybe the word will get out.

Again, one Member doesnt make a total Zeta unless there are bigger problems.

This new EX. VP has come in with a totally New Idea of how to do things and is trying to implement them.

Working closer with Zetas in Trouble. It is Great to expand, but if We as a Fraternity cannot keep up and for the other Zetas that are having problems then what is the reason.

I dont beleive out with the old and in with the new. The current Zetas must be worked with if there are problems.

This brings up an interesting queastion. Where to send ELCs? Should they just make the normal stops? Should they be firemen and go to Troubled Chapters or make the stops at ones that dont really need it?

Maybe Time Management would be more productive? Window time cost money especially today. Make use of the ELC when it is needed not just a stop on his Iteneray of Zetas to give a Kiss on the cheek.

If there is a Zeta that is a True Problem, then take care of it. If they do not listen then make a judgement. Yea or Nay. There are many stories and some are Not Bad while some are Not Good!

I just hate to see a Zeta Closed if they might have had help in the Proper manner.:(

Tom, I've long had the opinion that the ELC program be modified to add one or two additional, experienced ELC's whose sole purpose at the beginning of semesters is to assist zeta's that desparately need recruitment help (i.e. LX Zeta and USC Pueblo) - after "rush" week has ended, then their focus should shift to those chapters having operations issues (probation chapters, known risk management issues, etc...) - which leaves the other ELC's to do their due diligence and get face time with all chapters - I think that function is vital, but at the same time, there needs to be some extra help given to those chapters that need it - even if they don't want it. The ELC could figure out whether it's in the best interest of IHQ to keep those chapters open or not, and streamline the process of waiting until GA or LS to make decisions.

It would of course be an additional cost on IHQ operating budget, but I think it would be well worth the effort.

I like the idea

I like the idea of the experienced ELCs operating as the "fixers". It seems as if it is a sensible way to address those special problems.

Tom Earp 08-17-2005 03:16 PM

I think this would be a great idea and would be workable but cost more money but could be well worth it.

From the conversations with some Brothers and with Bill Farkas there is a new sense of regimen within the IHQ Leaders.

Basically, if there is a Zeta in need, work closer with them. If there is a Zeta that has continually had problems, work with them and if they do not want to change due to Risk Management then look very hard as suspension.

It is or should not be that fine a line of Bad Zetas and Those that might be in need of giving aid to keep functioning and grow.

It is interesting to be sure that an Underground Suspended Zeta is being reclolonized when it has been dorment for some time. I applaud this move as a good sign.

Remember, there are many Alums from these Zetas that are still interested in LXA.

The wind seems to be blowing in a much more favorable manor at IHQ and I am glad of it.

Crossed Swords

Have you all ever heard of the Crossed Swords? It is the official risk management publication of Lambda Chi given to all chapters that lists chapters in trouble, or on probation and what they did. It even lists what events took place for several chapters that were closed. I was Iota once for my chapter so I know this. I believe it is mailed to chapters every term. It also talks about proper risk management policies.

Tom Earp 08-19-2005 04:45 PM

I requested that and was told it was out of print.

Contacted Shane Foley at IHQ.

Not sure.????
