Actually, cutiepatootie over there didnt know what she was talking about. A rabbi can be a christian as well if you wanna get technical. Jesus was Jewish and people referred to him as "rabbi" yet he is also the christ, right? And the word rabbi basically means "teacher" and since that is true then the apostles could be viewed as each being a rabbi of the christian faith. Therefore, teachers of the christian faith can be referred to as rabbi. My favorite DG was trying to bust my balls and I'll leave it at that. |

I have not laughed this hard in a long time, thanks buddy. But for your question, no I haven't noticed. I've seen Christians of all body types, no one standing out more than the other. I myself am fairly thick, but I'm healthy. I have big arms and legs, but it's mostly muscle (I'm an ex-athlete). But I think a lot of people who are Christians probably had a lot wrong with them in their lives (you wouldn't believe you needed God to fix your life at a time when everything's dandy, right?). When people fall on tough times, their weight is usually affected (ex., you tend to gain weight when you're depressed, you may eat cheap junk if you're too poor for supermarket food, etc.). That may factor in too. You also have to think about races. You'll find a higher number of believers among Mexicans and Black communities, and we have a little more thickness to us than others. So there's a lot to think about. DANG IT!!! My mouth is bleeding, I think I moved my stitches when I was laughing, see I told you....oh well, it was worth it:D |

First off, Joel Osteen is a crock of shit. He's one of the greediest preachers out there. The guy is a joke. But to answer your question.......most believers DO have some traumatic event happen in their life that makes them come to god. In my eyes that says they're too weakminded to deal with issues in their head on their own and they have to go to the supernatural to get reassurance that everything is going to be alright. And most people would consider that a sign of insanity. Now I'm not talking about your average family who goes to church on sundays and every once in awhile wed. nights if they're protestant. I'm talking about those holly rolling, tongue talking, lay hands on and make the people fall out slain in the spirit type of people. Ever seen one of those churches where the whole congregation is laughing because they supposedly have "the joy of the spirit" and can't control their laughter? Like that guy Rodney Howard Brown in Tampa? There's something wrong with those people. You have to at least conede that much to me. |

One thing that always cracks me up are guys who say that women should be in the kitchen or otherwise "servicing" them, and then make fun of their weight, their willingness to be "obedient" and such. It's hypocracy at its best! |

Not for me, if it did I wouldn't be a heathen right now. I don't make fun of obedient women, just unhealthy ones. There is no excuse for being obese other than the fact that you're too damn lazy to change. If those women can go lay hands on people and come into agreement with prayer inorder to help someone better their life....they can damn sure do something about their weight. |

Geesh, I need to put my boots on before walking in this thread. As just for the record, the "gifts of the spirits" ARE of God and in the bible. :)
What gets me is those people that only set foot in church on Christmas and Easter and don't have jack to do with the church or the bible, but yet believe its ok to criticize everything (calling this or that "wrong", not right, whatever). LOL Now that's a load of crap..... Oh yeah, don't hate on Pastor Osteen because Lakewood has BLEW UP! :p Unlike some, he has never solicited for money on TV. Only up until last year is there even a blip on the church website about donating to their building fund. |

Oh yea? Then why the hell is he on the church channel and they're taking up offerings for his ministry? Yea, he might not be the one asking for the money directly. But being on the TBN and associating with Paul Crouch is a given that you're going to get innocent people calling in on the "Get help with Pastor Joel" hotline and they wind up forking out money to him because some hotline self-proclaimed prayor warrior is on there praying for that person and then asking for money to help Pastor Joel and his ministry. Do you realize I called that crap one time while he was on there just to see what those people do and ask of you? I told her I was suffering from post traumatic stress disorder after being in a non-denominational church. The lady didnt even know what post traumatic stress disorder was but kept telling me "praise god I'm believing for your healing and if you give a love offering of $100 to pastor Joel he'll stand in agreement with you." Seriously, some people can't even pay their rent and they need pyschological help and are crying out for it. But then you have "pastor joel" on there saying he'll help you if you get his $100 tape series. Thats a crock of shit and Joel O'Steen's way of swindling poor people out of money. I'd like to see his face if he couldn't come up with the 1.5 million dollars he needs every week to run that "ministry" of his and instead someone he believes in tells him they'll help him as long as he forks out 2.5 million dollars to support their ministry. That would be some funny shit. I'd actually pay $100 just to see that. |
