This is what I mean about internalizing beliefs and values; in your mind, the person who see's pictures of sexism and violence is somehow more responsible than the people who actually encourage sexism and perpetrate real violence against others. That's exactly like the Bush administration wanting to ban pictures of soldiers' corpses coming back to the states in flag-draped coffins.

Look, go ahead and lock the thread or do whatever it is you do when you don't agree with something, but as for asking me what I've done with these pictures(BTW, I'm not affiliated with that blog or any other)well, if only one girl see's those pictures and is compelled to make sure she or someone she knows doesn't end up being coaxed or deceived into a similar situation, than good enough. I'll leave now.

It's SEES! Not See's!

Damn, that felt good. No wonder KSigRC always posts that size.

Don't let the paddles hit you on the way out...

This has been driving me nuts too. Your post was like a refreshing tonic on a balmy summer day.

I'm still trying to figure out what George W has to do with any of this.

I know that's right. If Dubya weren't in office, I wouldn't have lint all over my black shirt. :(

No. The people responsible for the paddling have the paddles in their hands and those who are willing to be paddled. I am asking you, what have YOU done other than posting these pictures on GC? You seem to have a great deal of e-courage. Why don't you take some "real life" initiative and trace these pictures to the source. Contact the victims and assist them in contacting the police and pressing charges. That would be of more service than anything else.

I hear these women are really wicked with their paddles. :D

YOUR HISTORY: When you posted here for the first time a few months ago, you were planning to rush, but because of the hazing that went on at your high school, you were concerned you might end up in a GLO and be hazed.

It seems to me you have the common sense not to allow something like that to happen to you-- that you would walk away and report it.

WHO ARE YOU? But what I don't understand is that you've only ever posted in the Risk Management Forum. If you are a PNM, surely you would be interested in the positive aspects of sorority life. Why are you so hung up on anti-hazing education? Have you checked out the community service, social, campus life and recruitment aspects to sorority membership? You do realize that sororities, by nature, don't paddle and harrass their members, right? That isn't why they were created and with the exception of a few deviants who should not be members, we aren't in the business of breaking each other down.

Unless of course, you've lied in previous posts and you're just posting inflammatory information (instead of reporting it to the proper authorities).

GREEK STANCE ON HAZING: Anti-hazing education and reporting hazing to the proper sources are VERY important-- we want to protect our members from harm by ill-intentioned members (who should have their membership revoked through due process).

TO SUMMARIZE: Go away. You're not opening any kind of constructive dialogue. If you've observed specific hazing from photos posted online, please do report it. But this is a message board not a Greek HQ or University Administration.

A complete cultural overhaul, and that begins with effecting consciousness on a mass scale. No easy task, mind you. As long as power, and its inherent abuse is seen as good and right, and people are desensitized and encourgaed to remain apathetic towards their fellow man, then the abuse of power will continue to lead our species down the unfortunate path it's on.
Remind me again when the last time any person in a leadership role at the national/international level ever advocated paddling.
