She did say that the group doesn't have as many chapters in the South so I'm going to guess either DPhiE, GPhiB or AXiD.

Got the bamboo shoots and vice grips ready! :D

Congrats Tish!

My guesses:

Alpha Gamma Delta
Alpha Xi Delta

Getting ready to use those vice grips....

A little 80's trivia...

I am going to give out 2 clues for you, one a little more obscure than the other, but if you know your 80's trivia, you may be able to figure out who the Pina Colada's are. I'm an 80's junkie so I had to figure a way to work one of my favorite decades into my reveal...

1) My sorority's symbol can be found on the 80's album cover that contained the song "Union of the Snake"...

2) If you know what popular 80's movie had the quote "Lorraine, my density has brought me to you." (and no, density is not a typo), you'd see that one of the main characters shares the title and name of someone who had a lasting influence on the Pina Colada sorority...

I know these will give it away...but I just wanted to give you guys a couple of last clues!

And, thank you all for your well wishes...I am truly blessed that AI came into my life so unexpectedly!

Once again, reiterating my guess for Gamma Phi Beta. There is a crescent moon on the album cover. Gotta love Google Image Search.

OH!

Congratulations!!! I figured it out! :D

SmartBlondeGPhB 07-27-2005 01:52 PM

Those were good clues...................forced them to do a little work there.

I have no idea what the second clue is, but I've known all along so it doesn't much matter.:p :p :p

As I've already said CONGRATULATIONS!!

:D :D :D :D

ms_gwyn 07-27-2005 01:57 PM

I knew it.....

WCUgirl 07-27-2005 02:00 PM

Ick -- I have no idea about that second clue. I missed the 80s the first time around and am avoiding it like the plague this second time too. :p

I'm so bad at guessing these. :(

Congratulations!!

the movie quote is Back to the Future

FloridaTish 07-27-2005 02:07 PM

The 2nd clue referenced "Back to the Future" where george McFly was trying to ask Marty's mom, Lorraine to the Enchantment Under the Sea dance. The inventor of the time machine was "Doc Brown".... Gamma Phi Beta's National colors: Brown and Mode, in honor of Dr. J.J. Brown who lent his study for Friday meetings in the early years of the society. See I told you it was obscure!

I figured the crescent moon on the Duran Duran album cover would be a dead giveaway...

So, yes, this Fall I will be initiated as an AI at the Delta Sigma chapter of Gamma Phi Beta at Florida Tech!

I am so excited and so thrilled to become a part of a wonderful sisterhood...I promise I will make everyone proud!

And a wonderful Gamma Phi she will be too. :)

And actually, in current times a woman named Lorraine is VERY instrumental in running our organization............(she helps with alumnae services)

ms_gwyn 07-27-2005 02:23 PM
