Dennis = nothing.

Hurricanes are supposed to be fun when you're cooped up in the Coliseum basement! You're supposed to do fun stuff like they did for Ivan and turn the display screens over the basketball court into your personal gaming screens by pluging in your PS2!
You're also supposed to be in a shelter for more than 15 hours. They told us we could go home if we wanted at about 12:30 last night because the worst of it was over and I was not about to sleep on a concrete floor if I could help it.

(Side Note: I <3 my parents, really. But dude, when hurricanes make landfall east of Mobile, they just make the trip up the highway about 120 miles and nail our house and surrounding area pretty bad. East AL barely got hit this last time. Therefore, I kinda wish they'd stop asking me to go home for these things.)

Emily

It looks like there is "something" brewing thaat may be upgraded to a tropical sotrm later today (Emily). Preliminary reports say that if it does develop into a hurricane, it will be amking it to Florida by early next week. :(

Praying that it turns into nothing.

On a sad note, Honeykiss 1974, Emily is now Hurricane Emily. I'm praying, just like you, that she does not hit the U.S.A. (not that any other countries/landmasses deserve to get hit.) Georgia sometimes gets whats left of the hurricanes too. Those hurricanes last September made a mess in Atlanta.

Hurricanes be gone!

The two storms last week made a mess of Atlanta! Parts of Cobb County are underwater...literally.

Emily looks to be headded to Texas. We'll take one over here, cause you floridians have taken your fare share.

I'm calling a hit between Brownsville and Corpus as a strong Cat 2 / Weak Cat 3.

We should have started a GC hurricane landfall betting thread.

$25 on 10-30 miles north of Corpus.

/JK, I don't really have $25 right now

Is this how its played? Talk some shit and post a map? (it aint even a current map). Is Wylie on the destination map? Emily aint gonna come anywhere near you, so you best bring something more.

BTW, What, do you work for the NWS? You cant just post an old map and run. You gotta buy in. I only see two bets on the table. Put up or shut up, tina talk alot. Serious betters only.

Two bones. I aint runnin no charity table ova here.

:D

I link directly to the NHC map, whose graphic above is updated regularly.

$2 sez she'll turn a little further north and get Corpus or maybe Houston - she's big enough that Dallas will get some of her feeder bands if she heads that way. Lord knows, we need the rain. (Yesterday's frog-strangler thunderstorms notwithstanding... the commute home thoroughly sucked Friday.)

Yeah, the whole state's been in a deficit. Houston's low lying areas flood and now all the anchors on CNN and such are talking out their ass about how "Texas dosent need any more rain". Thats some BS. Yesterday afternoon, SA had its first measureable rain in 46 days. All the lake levels have dropped pretty far and people in the Valley are kinda hoping Emily hits them and stalls. My brother in law's family has a house on Lake Corpus Christi and what was once a house on the water is now a house about 25 yards from the water.
