Actually, in the first book they're 15 going on 16. And as to whether it's a good series for a 12-13 year old girl, that depends on whether you're comfortable with hints of teenage sexuality.

I'm WAY past YA age, and I just read all three books on a binge. I can't wait for the fourth book, which should be narrated by Bee!

In the movie they say they are 16. The movie was rated PG and my daughter and I disagreed on what Bridget had done with the soccer coach. My ex-husband thinks my daughter shouldn't be exposed to anything sexual and gets angry but she's being exposed to things anyway and I'd rather be involved and keep an open communication about the things she sees/hears so that she and I can discuss it together. (Like why the never married 23 year old next door has a 4 year old with another baby on the way with two different daddies, etc).

Saw it with a bunch of gals Friday night, we all really enjoyed it. Thought some of the dramatic/emotional parts were too long and could have been cut down, but otherwise it was great. :)

My mom wants me to go with her to see it. The previews look cute.

This sounds good! Now I'm excited that I'm going to go see it on Wednesday for a Girls Night Out. :)

I worked at an elementary and middle school. Wheather you tell your daughter about sexuality she has probably been exposed to in in school and will be again. So, i have to say that i agree with you and from a former teaching assistants point of view i think that it is best for young girls to be able to talk to parents about sexuality in an open communications type of way. This way she sould go to you with any questions and feeling she has. So if your husband says anything tell him that your daughter is learning about sexuality from other students and its better that you have a good openess about it.

Also, thanks all for the 411 about the series. I will put it on the book list for my niece.

CT4,
The first book was the best, the next two were just so-so IMO. They're on my shelf in my class for SSR though, and almost always checked out. :)

I absolutely loved all the books but most all the movie! I'd pay good money to see it. I am very glad they are attempting to use the same actresses. It wouldn't be right if they didn't.

Btw, Kostos sucks.

They're all under contract. Which I read is how they're going to get America Ferrara to reprise her role even though she doesn't really want to.
