I was told that this project was not approved and is under review by our legal counsel. Sorors if you want to know more, PM me.
The Alpha did a painting of the first meeting of his Founders using live models. I understand it has been sold at Alpha conventions/boule/whatever. So I assume they sanctioned it. |

DST Documentary
Does anyone know how the filming of this documentary went? I am very curious because I am not impressed with the clip from the casting footage.

You know it would have been nice if whomever had consulted with the org about making a film about the sorority's founding so that it would be sanctioned and supported;even though it was a novel idea and probably meant with good intentions.
However, we must consider that some people who make these films are NOT greeks they just know them and so they don't understand the process that they must take in order to make a film (esp. in the name of DELTA). Then too there are greeks who don't know (I guess you call it) protocol in respect to film, movies, books, websites and the likes. I read the directors bio and have seen her in movies, plays, etc. before;once again, I think her intentions are good. But only a Delta knows how to portray Delta the way Delta should be portrayed. |

There was NO mention of the movie at the Midwest Regional Conference, which should tell you something.

Black Sorority History Project on DST
Sorors below is a link to an excerpt of the actual footage of the documentary. I guess this documentary will be for sale soon.
http://homepage.mac.com/rosalynwilli...Theater41.html Also, below is a link to Keisha Alfred Audition. I can honestly say that I am not impressed with Ms. Alfred's audition. Did she just mess up our Founders name? Who is OC? Why is she saying that our Founders are selecting the African Violet as our official flower? You would think that they would get the basics right. Maybe I should not be so quick to judge this project, but I am certainly not impressed with this documentary so far. http://homepage.mac.com/rosalynwilli...Theater39.html What are your public opinions or comments Sorors? |
Ditto on getting the basic info right. And I thought they were supposed to be selecting folx who resembled the Founders. Madree Penn White's daughter would scream if she saw who they chose for her mother. I mean she got upset at the official portrait saying that did not look like her mother, because her mother never wore lipstick.
Oh, and girl didn't you know they called our Founder OC for short? |
Our story should only be told by those who have official approval from our national body. Besides, noone else can tell our life story better than we can.
|
I'm not getting a good feeling about this. Why does it feel so wrong on so many levels? I was curious at first but then I saw the clips. Maybe it's because of the acting, possible inaccurcies (sp) or is it no blessing from National?:(
|
Ok who is the Vertie or Bertie person that is referred to after OC? Does she mean Wertie as in Wertie Blackwell Weaver? I am not impressed with this documentary. This is a great example of why projects like this need to be blessed by Grand Chapter to ensure accuracy of all names and information.
|
Ok. When I read the article...I thought they said that they weren't using specific names due to the fact that no one from Delta was involved in the project. You know, kind of making it general. They should have stuck with that plan if they don't have the proper blessing...in case the mess up something which seems to be inevitable.:(
