I somewhat understand what this person is going through. My neighbors boyfriend was working in Iraq. He mentioned to her that the soldiers he was working with didn't get much in the department of care packeges and such. She mentioned this to me and I told her I would try to get my sorority to get some stuff together to send. I did not do anything without going to the chapter. I brought it up at a meeting and everyone was excited and thought it was a great idea. We even voted to do it. Well when it came around to actually getting stuff from the girls I got hardly anything. There were a couple of girls that gave everything. In the end I only ended up with a couple of bags of candy, some beef jerky and some stuff I had bought. I couldn't believe that with 60 girls in my chapter this is all I got. It seems like everytime someone comes up with an idea like this, everyone loves the idea but never gives anything. I understand that not everyone has extra money, but does it take that much to buy a bag of candy, magazine, etc? I don't think so. I was so embarassed when I had to tell my neighbor that I couldn't get my sisters to give anything. I never tried to do anything like this again. I don't know if it is just me or this seemed a little selfish of my sisters. I will probably get yelled at for saying this but it was really sad.
Sorry the post was so long
