On the other hand, I don't have to wait for the police report to get started on my car. Further details of how this works can be found in this thread, but I've already made arrangements with my insurance company. My file will be reassigned to a specific adjuster tomorrow (rather than a team) since my car was towed, and my car will likely be inspected on Tuesday. I've already told my company which shop I want to use: it's recommended by my dealer, my insurance company, and the company I work for, and happens to be all of about a mile away from the tow yard currently holding my car. Since I'll be using my own collision coverage, I'll have to cough up my deductible and then wait for my insurance company to get reimbursed from her insurance company before I get the money back, but it beats the alternative of having my car lien-sold out from under me by the tow yard for having sat there too long. |
When you write lengthy posts, does it give you a sense of accomplishment?

Update
I got the cover page of the police report today (the full report still isn't finished), and called the other party's insurance company.
Turns out the other party reported it only just today as a solo loss... right about the time when my adjuster's letters would have started arriving in the mail. What's more, her policy doesn't include any liability coverage, so she's in effect an uninsured motorist. So, let's see.... she get's to face collections from my insurance company, the DMV is going to hear about her not being insured, I'll be having a chat with the CHP about criminal prosecution, and I just bought a couple of books about Small Claims Court procedures for a dimunition of value claim. |
