I was looking through an old issue of The Triangle and noticed that on our 2004 National Convention registration form, there's a check-box for non-members as well as collegians and alumnae.

I asked one of our advisors about it and she said that non-members are welcome but purchase special passes that only allow them access to certain events (Panhellenic guest speakers, workshops not involving ritual).

I am curious as to whether non-members are allowed at YOUR conventions as well and what events they are allowed to attend.

Non-member may attend our conventions. These can either be spouses of Brothers, or other special guests/guest speakers of the convention.

They would only be barred from things that touched on stuff only Brothers could be present at, which (like others on this thread have mentioned) usually were things dealing with rituals (workshops on rituals, legistlative sessions dealing with rituals, etc).

Non-Members(Mainly Wives/Girlfriends and children) are allowed to partake in the opening ceremony, luncheon, and dinner events as well as helping out with our books for Kids program. Nationals also have a all day activities for the Wives / girlfirends.

Our conventions are "Pi Phis only". I'm sure that there are a few people who pay extra for private rooms so that a husband might visit the city but there are no 'visitor meal tickets' or other provisions made. There may be a few invited guests, namely speakers but no spouses or friends. We have a hard enough time finding hotels big enough. If we weren't sharing rooms, I could see being split between hotels or having the number of visitors being limited and that would not be as much fun. Our time together is so limited and is needed for business and education of fraternity members... I would hate to see it limited further.
