....advice and prayers needed also

All:

my younger sister stephanie is going to need amputation. she has gangrene in parts of her hands and feet i believe partly do to a blood disease that we are not sure how she got it. my sister has ulcerative colitis and primary scholerosing cholangitis. these are diseases that affect her digestive system. most recently she had a port placed in. with that surgery there was risk of infection and her doctor here recommended that she not have it. she was able to get a second opinion and had the surgery.

the psychological affects will be immeasurable; this i can handle having had personal and familial experience with depressive disoders. what i am asking is tri-fold:

any scriptures that may be comforting to her. any books or writings that may help her. my sister tends to wallow in self pity and at some point i want her to be able to work through that.

those who are in patient care, rehabilitation or anyone who has experience dealing with amputees, from a medical standpoint, what type of blood disorders can cause gangrene or excessive clotting of the blood. what i am having trouble with is the fact that my sister was in the hospital for 2 months. she was in a bed so why was there appropriate treatment to keep her circulation at an acceptable level?

lastly, for the attorneys and law students, what legal issues will my familly have to look at?

fyi, i am ok. im sad for my sister but right now i am thinking of my mother and how she is going to make this a drama filled situation doing more harm than good. ive had to correct her more than twice on my role in the family relative to my sister. so right now im on the defensive.

any and all help is appreciated.

btw: she was in univ of md hospital and most recent Johns Hopkins.

Oh my, darling1, what a plateful. :( I wish I had some advice, but these areas are not in my expertise. The best I can offer you are my words of comfort for you, your sister and your family. I pray that you all will be able to work through this difficult time and that your sister is able to get the treatment she needs to begin on a road to recovery.

.....Kelly
