Well, that's not *quite* true; collectors know the pins are usually worth more in their original state (vs. melted down.) Prices for fraternity/sorority badges have really gone up since eBay started getting popular.
It is, in fact, a past President's pin. Fortunately we have some great sisters who are in a position to bring it back to Phi Mu. |
It is rather sad that it has gotten to this point. I am glad that there is someone out there who can get it back to where it belongs.

Another crash - please forgive me!
I just noticed that the seller of this gorgeous badge is also selling this Sigma Nu pin! It does make his "Alzheimer's story" a little fishy... |

I see the auction is over for the pin. Please tell me that your HQ was able to get it?

The individual responsible for this sister's estate is donating the badge and a number of other significant items to our soon to open new museum :)! Hurray! |

The one time that I was at our EO, I was thrilled to see some of the wonderfully old or otherwise special ADPi items. It does my heart good to know that y'all will have that same opportunity! |

Judging the pin and where the seller was located, I am betting it is a pin for the literary "Philomathean Society" which was founded in Pennsylvannia in the early 1800s.
