Trust me, I do understand when you say that you have experienced attitudes from Caribbean people. This coming from a woman who was told by her godmother before I left Jamaica to attend Spelman College that I shouldn't go "over there" and take up "those Black American's problems on my head". I believe she was referring to the problems of racism. My godmother is a woman who has travelled to every continent on this planet, and is someone I have looked up to and continue to revere to this day, but I have NEVER forgotten that statement (and this is almost 15 years later). It shocked me.
