Actually such a casual meeting started a "hobby" for me.
I worked for IBM right after I graduated and was doing a good deal of traveling. On a trip to IBM in Charlotte, NC, I went to Subway for lunch. The young guy in front of me in line was wearing an AM pin. I introduced myself, we chatted, and he invited me to a party they were having that night. There were brothers from many different chapters there, so the actives were expecting to entertain "visiting LX's". It turned out to be a great night. After that, I started a "hobby" of trying to visit nearby chapters whenever IBM sent me somewhere....hence my long list on the "what chapters have you been to" forum. Unfortunately I don't travel much any more, and haven't visited any "new" chapters in about 5-6 years. But I'm glad I bumped into that AM so long ago! ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now for part 2 of the question: I am now a full-time graduate student at U of KY, the home of Epsilon-Phi Zeta. I started back in August. I'm here 5 days a week, and though I spend most of my time in the Engineering complex, I do "get out" on central campus a bit. I have lunch in the student center cafeteria 1-2 times a week usually. I often have to walk "clear across campus" on occassion. In all this time, I've NEVER seen LXA letters. Maybe the guys here just don't wear them. (Actually I rarely see any fraternity members with letter jerseys...only an occassional hat or T-shirt). Or perhaps the chance of meeting one of 40-50 students out of a population of over 20,000 is just unlikely. Go figure. Kevin |
Kev, that is the big difference between the good old days and today!:o
Wear Letters, it is the best form of Free Advertising for us! Hell, why wear GAP, Old Navy, Bud or Nike stuff. Ours is better!!!!! Had LXA Hat on Sun. at Grocery Store and a Un. Ks. student recognized it! |
