With this election cycle, Alpha Gamma Delta has created the Website Coordinator position as part of the Operations Team.

This will help keep control when members graduate. Our past webmaster has recently moved out of state; his AGD daughter was acting as the unoffiical coordinator and is will be graduating.

So now our new webmistress (webmom, lol) is our new President's mother..so we'll know where to find her, lol.

How wonderful! For years it was given to whoever wanted to do it. When I was a collegian the duties fell upon me as Personal Development Coordinator -- so I had my programming, my chapter newsletter, AND the site to maintain!

*Bump*

Fall rush has started so be sure your chapter's website is current.

Take a tour of your chapter's website and make sure that all links work. Every picture should still be visible and relevant (current). Make sure that officer and chapter contact information (phone numbers, email address etc.) is up to date. And by all means, dates for rush/recruitment events are current.

And make sure any information/pictures of Gamma Chis/Rho Chis/Pi Chis whatever are not visible. Please!

What TS Said.

The problem is finding New Actives who can keep it up graded. I pay for ours and the Web Mater Graduated but wants to keep it up.;)

But, it is a selling tool for Your Chapter when you cannot be there to ask questions.

God I wish I knew how to do this as I have the time.:(

Stupid on Web Sites is in My Vocabularly to be sure.:o

It does cost to hire someone to do it. Watch Finances!

Thanks for bumping this! A week or two before FR is a great time to update your website.

Kudos to the webmaster for my school's Panhel website. There are still a couple of broken links, but they've already got 2006 recruitment dates and a registration form up (they have deferred recruitment). Apparently someone over there read this thread ;)

Just curious, will you please post a link to your chapter's site?

I don't know about other chapters, but we're not supposed to have our Panhellenic representative pictured, either--ask around and make sure you know who needs to be edited out! Also, pleeeeeease, since you're going to all the trouble to edit recruitment counselors out, remind them to take their affiliation off of their facebook/myspace/LJ/any site tied to them/&etc. Our round of PNMs liked to play "guess the rho chi" with things like facebook and LJ profiles, so remind them not to let that happen!

As for the person asking for a link, I think mine's in my signature? Anyway, it was done with a lot of help from a sister's boyfriend, so a good idea is to ask around if you have sisters or friends with web design experience to help make your site. Ours was done that way using a design program installed on some of the school computer, and it seems like a much less expensive thing to do than hire a site designer.

The other plus with having an alum help out is GOOD JUDGEMENT.

The alum might think twice about posting pictures of girls holding beers or cigarettes, girls dressed for "ghetto fabulous" or "pimps and hos" parties, photos of a pledge class in ritual wear (even worse if some of the girls are wearing white miniskirts, white jeans, or slinky white braless tops) or pictures of obviously inebriated sisters. She might be better able to choose photos which project the right image, as opposed to photos where a majority of the girls look "hot".

Alums would also be thinking about photos that wouldn't give the parents of potential rushees heart failure (I'm sure a LOT of moms and dads check out the sites of the sororities where their daughters are rushing).
