My freshman roommate in college - and still good friend - is a Delt and one of the finest gentleman I have ever been honored to know. So here is a toast to the fine Brotherhood of Delta Tau Delta.

TSteven 12-31-2004 10:43 PM

Thank you kindly sir! Beta's outstanding example of brotherhood should be an example to us all.

Best for 2005 and beyond.

DeltAlum 01-01-2005 12:26 AM

T. Steven,

Thank you very much for the kind words. Obviously, I agree. While not one of the biggest, Delt is a fine, longstanding organization that has accomplished much and taught me a lot.

And now, brother greeks, as an Ohio University graduate and Beta Chapter alumni, I must admit, although it pains me to say that anything good has ever come out of Miami of Ohio, I have great respect for all of the Triad fraternities. Both Beta and Sigma Chi were well represented on the O.U. campus as leaders and gentlemen.

nothing wrong at all...

Nothing wrong at all about tooting your horn....and Beta is a good example. Their loyalty is something else. One of my high
school buddies flew from Denver to Manhattan, KS for the reunion
of their fall '54 pledge class. 19 showed up out of the original 25.
Mind now, this was just a pledge class. Kansas State has one of
the best over-all systems in US, many, many top chapter awards
given. TKE has won IMs 17 out of last 19 years there. Of the two
houses at KU to unseat (briefly) Beta on grades...TKE was one,
AKL (now inactive) was the other. But Beta recovered quickly!
The Miami Triad all great, and leaders almost everywhere, and I
think SAE best all around amongst larger fraternities. But each of
us has something, somewhere, to brag about. Why not?
Pride and success in your fraternity and continued loyalty is but a
harbinger of greater things for us all. Now, go out and tell the
world how great it is to be a greek. Happy New Year!

On that note, lets give it up to Ronald Reagan, TKE Eureka College, initiated 1929.

clarification...

Tooting one's own horn is not what I meant by "snooty"--and
pride, winning, and good grades do not make a snooty outfit!
One chapter at CU, currently inactive, took out a full page in the
CU daily paper, saying something like this:
"Piss in the tall grass with the big dogs. Pledge ___ ___"
Now that is snooty.
Winning is not snooty, and I hope I did not give the impression
that it is. We all strive to win. And, snootiness is a matter of
opinion, too, a judgement call, fair or not, warts and all.
I think I'll go eat worms.

I want a tanning bed in my house!!!! Seems like a simple thing to have, though. Convert one of the libraries, buy a tanning bed (they can't be THAT expensive, anyway!). Sounds like a plan. I don't think any of the sororities at S. Carolina have working fireplaces, though, so I don't think that works for us... I've only been in a few of the houses, though. Maybe I wasn't looking that hard for it.

Oh, and are the SHIMS snooty? I thought they were pretty open-minded, actually. :-P

TSTEVEN, very well put!:D

Snootiest, E C, sory but that is an im-proper post.

As some said the School has a lot to do with the snobbiest, I am, You am!

I love going to smaller State U's, where Greeks are good or not, going to Larger Colleges where Greeks are Great or not.

Those that act like that will find out that times change and not

Being King/Queen of the hill doesnt last forever!

I have respect for Certain Greek Organizatins if not all, but for some Members I dont.

Just check some ones signature to show how immature HE really is! This is by no way reflective on Its Fraternity!

Can you explain this one? I put one in the Kappa house at South Carolina so I'm trying to figure it out!

CarolinaDG 01-01-2005 02:53 PM

PKTKKG... Is it working fireplaces at USC? I thought it was "fake" balconies. ;-) (To anyone reading this, there was a rumor going on that Kappas balcony was fake... absolutely ridiculous since somewhere there's a picture of all the girls standing on it)

Either way, I don't think Kappa is snooty, so I don't think that works.

I would love to know where that 'fake' balcony rumor got started. It began during recruitment last year right after we moved in (PNMs came into our parties saying that they heard we couldn't use our balcony). After the first day of parties was over, I sent all the girls up to the balcony to hang out and have their dinner as the PNMs left the Greek Village!

I think I know who started it, but I won't say here. I did here from someone that KD restricted their members use of their balcony, but that could be another one of those rumors that is not true so I have not repeated it until now.

This is so weird. I heard a rumor about a fake balcony on a fraternity house about ten years ago. I think that it might have started because someone was afraid it might collapse if too many people stood on it. I forget the details. It was around the same time that a local house was condemned because the floor was caving it. Anyway this is nowhere near USC, but I thought it was weird how similar rumors spread a decade apart.

Right back atcha, Sigma Chi - I visitied your Alpha House for a few hours while I was in Miami (post fire in the late 1990's??) - that place is unreal, huge as a matter of fact. The guys were great, showed me around and talked for a few hours.

Sigma Chi, a true leader in the greek world, has been since 1855 and probably will be for another 150 years!

Miami Triad, its a great thing.

Happy New Year!

the fire happened during the fall of 2000. while an unfortunate thing, it helped bring the Miami Greek community and the entire Miami and Oxford community together unlike it had been in a long time, with everyone working together to help out the guys in the fraternity. They did an amazing job with rebuilding the house after the fire. it came out beautiful.

On the University of Louisville's Campus:

Sorority: Kappa Delta
Fraternity: I hate to say this, because my boyfriend of 5 years initiated this fraternity: Phi Kappa Tau

Everyone says the Chi Omega's at UofL are snotty. We have some really quiet women, so maybe thats why. We also win everything, so it must be jealousy! HAHAHA!
