Happy as a lark!

I went today and bought Memento!! :) I got the limited edition, so I can't WAIT to see all the features! One of them is showing the movie FORWARDS!!! The Request magazine says it still holds up well, even moving in chronological order.

I also rented Mulholland Drive and Vanilla Sky.

Has anyone ever seen Starship Troopers??? I saw it and I really didn't like it, but I think I missed the point... there was a lot of irony about the government that I TOTALLY missed, according to this review I just read. I'm wondering if anyone caught the irony.

I can't handle it... please, tell me wtf just happened. I'm at a loss. Email me, explain the time frames to me. WTF just happened?

***EDIT***
I couldn't wait for yall... I had to search the 'net. Man, that mess was wild. WILD. Definitely one to be watched a 2nd time.

See, didn't I tell you?!? That movie is a trip. I mean, the first 3/4 of the movie, you're like, "okay, this is cool" and then all hell breaks loose in the last 1/2 hour. There's a really good article on the net that explains a lot of different things that went on, but I can't think of the website. I'll post it if I find it. Librasoul also hipped me to the fact that there are clues inside of the DVD cover. I have yet to watch it a second time because I have to mentally prepare myself. I ended up buying it, though, because I knew I'd want to watch it again.

Now if I could only bring myself to watch Memento......

Girl, I already went to that site, last night, I couldn't wait!! It does explain a lot of the stuff though. Cuz there were parts that we were like Oh WTF???? But they make sense now. Did yall feel bad for laughing at the funny parts? I felt bad. That movie spooked me. I've been thinking about it all day. Laughing at all the questions we were asking. What a trip. I have to watch it again now, to catch all the clues I missed.

yes, but it also fits into the "Ewan McGregor is so F.I.N.E. fine I don't care if I understand the plot" category. :D

You need to quit, LOL!

I guess I never came back and commented on Vanilla Sky. I didn't like it at all. I mean, the ending was too far fetched... too much fantasy-sci-fi. Too much, gimme a break. But, I do want to see Abre Los Ojos (Open Your Eyes), now. I bet it's MUCH better, cuz I KNOW a Spanish film wouldn't have THAT ending. Has anyone seen the Spanish version? Hmph, I was totally unimpressed with VS. I did at least want to watch Mulholland Drive again, now that was good. But Vanilla Sky, nope.

I watched this movie over the weekend and I loved it! Like you said, the fire scene was off the hook. Especially when they show how it started!!!http://www.clicksmilies.com/sammlung.../lachen007.gif I have a question, though (imagine that  ). How come when the two gay guys went back to get Ronna out the ditch, they didn't recognize her as the same girl they were trying to set up earlier in the movie? I really did like it, though. If you liked Go, you'll like Freeway.

I like this movie cuz it is kind of all over the place. I LOVE the four people eating at the restaurant that all they do is debate stuff and end up agreeing, but changing the original sentence a little. I love it! [/B]
I still can't find this movie anywhere. Did you rent it somewhere?

You know what? I'm not sure... I don't remember, I'll have to watch it again, lol. That's a good question.

Nope, I saw it on cable (HBO/SHOW/MAX). It comes on every once in a while, check the guide, if you have one. Scott Baio is in it. I used to have a crush on him when I was little!!! :o Zapped is still one of my favorite movies!!!

Clockwork Orange- was very obscure but did any one notice that Bart dressed up like Alex from that movie. It was one of the Halloween Simpson's. Also I think Usher kinda dressed like Alex in his video "My Way". Watch both of those over and you will see what I mean!!!

Rocky Horror Picture Show- is a great weird movie! I love the songs and music from it.

Pi- is another obscure movie it is about a math wiz who is trying to find a code in the stock market. Very odd movie!

Honeykiss1974 06-24-2002 04:53 PM

Memento - I have tried to watch this twice, and fell asleep both times. What was this movie about again?

Eyes Wide Shut - see comment above

Vanilla Sky was ok, but I am not a big Tom Cruise fan. I did keep my attention though

I though GO was good, so I will check out Freeway :)

Ideal08 06-30-2002 06:35 PM

I watched it!

I liked it!!! I think the whole concept of the movie and how it was made was really cool. A little off the hook, yes, but I'd recommend it.

I just watched this movie today and it was kind of weird. Thank God I have caption function turned on my tv, otherwise it would have been hard to follow. I need to watch this from the beginning though so I see how all the characters met. But from what I saw, it was off the hook

Hmmmmm, now that's an idea. I'll have to try watching it with captions on. I also caught the end of it this weekend and I noticed that one of the characters is Rita from Mulholland Dr.

I have another obscure movie to add to my list. I watched Magnolia over the weekend and it definitely had me asking 'what just happened?' http://www.plauder-smilies.de/sad/nixweiss.gif. The movie deals with chance and circumstance and in the end, you begin to see how everyone's lives are entertwined. It's a bit long (almost 3 hours  ), but it's worth renting. If anyone's already seen it, I'd like to hear your opinion.

FeeFee 07-01-2002 10:58 AM

The list continues....

My list of obscure movies include:

Pulp Fiction - absolutely a must see if you haven't

Natural Born Killers - the main characters (Woody Harrelson and his female co-star - forgot her name) are certified crazy!!!!!

The Usual Suspects - have to watch it again, it's been a while

Reservoir Dogs - I have the tape, but have yet to find the time to sit down and actually watch it :(

Very Bad Things - starring Cameron Diaz and Christian Slater. Totally weird from beginning to end. Another must see!

Cruel Intentions - starring Reese Witherspoon and Sarah Michelle Gellar (sp?)
