I thought Disco Demolition night occurred at old Comiskey Park in Chicago?

I don't know what Disco Demolition night is, but Detroit has celebrated, in the streets, more than a few championships which have only included good times. In MY lifetime I don't recall any riots or a need for police to break up celebrations because of fighting. The only serious incident that has happened was obviously this, and the Fireworks shooting. Everyone outside of Detroit only sees the negative things about it because they aren't there to witness all the wonderful things the city has to offer. They can only see what the media shows, which we all know is usually negative events. You saying all of that makes you no better than those who are against Greek organizations. WE all know what we are good for, but it's unfortunate that outsiders cannot understand. I never said that it was alright what those people did, but they are not the "professionals" in the situation. All I said was that the players shouldn't have jumped into the stands. Anyone who sues is just pretty much stupid and looking for money, unless they were an innocent bystander who got injured. And in that case who knows who would be the defendant cuz it was all just a clusterfuck. Please remember, a few dumbfucks don't make up the city of Detroit. It's embarrassing enough that they acted like that, so why put us down and general all of this city, who is working it's ASS off to build its rep? And if it doesn't change your mind about our reputation, then screw you and anyone else who feels that way. We don't need more people bringing down something that is trying to be brought up. |

I recall Detriot burning itself to the ground after the Tigers beat the Padres in the 1984 World Series. Maybe that's why I wasn't surprised last night.
I still don't get why cities riot when they WIN........ |
It sucks but I'm happy that Philly wasnt involved. PHILLY FANS ARE NOT THE WORST FANS IN SPORTS NOW!!!

I made a mistake, but at least I got one of the teams right, haha - On the other hand, you're choosing to be a douche about this for no reason. Sportscenter was right - the fans incited this. Detroit fans incited this. Detroit fans, who are known for being bad fans. Detroit fans, who presumably are from Detroit. you do the math, ace, or shut the fuck up Whoops - ETA - Re-read your diatribe, you prove my entire point. I'm not saying your city sucks, I'm saying it is known for bad fans. Get that through your thick skull, chief. And don't even begin to strawman me w/ some half-assed greek life analogy. It's non sequitur (www.dictionary.com for that one boss) |
Drunk ass that threw the beer should have had his ass KICKED!
I dont agree with over payed Butt Heads, but if someone did that to me, oops, your friggen bad MFer! Oh, I thought this was supposed to be a Sport, but it seems many live through their teams and players. Maybe it is beacuse they or losers who cannot do S**T!:o |
auburn hills isn't in detroit
  |
Many people are "at fault" because the incident couldn't have occurred without each element:
1) Artest made a cheap foul that was unnecessary with the Pacers ahead by 12 and 1 minute to go in the game. 2) Wallace reacted to that foul with violence himself, unnecessarily... maybe he came back too soon after his brother's death. 3) The ONE fan who first threw the beer at Artest was wrong. 4) Artest was wrong for reacting as he did and going up into the stands and punching out the WRONG fan. 5) Everybody who was violent in any way was wrong. 6) They were in Auburn Hills, not Detroit 7) 20 years ago, there were some cars set on fire during the 1984 World Series celebration, which was a bad thing. The city was not "burned to the ground" by any means. Since that time, many many cities have had celebrations after sports victories (and losses) go bad and bad things happened. Detroit has since had numerous celebrations (Pistons in early 90's, last year, Red Wings 3 times) without any problems. 8) Hoodlums can't afford those court side seats. They are $80 a ticket and only season ticket holders can get them. 9) Innocent bystanders (like the woman who was trampled), if seriously injured, most certainly should sue. 10) It is embarassing to everybody from Detroit for this to happen, but I do believe it could happen anywhere. Those NBA analysts on ESPN were pretty quick to slam the city of Detroit as a whole. I wonder if they are still pissed at seeing the Lakers get drilled last year in the Finals:D |
i just wish i was the guy who was wrongly hit...i would have such a civil suit on my hands against that thug...just hearing the bank account levels rise...
ordinarily i wouldn't be one to sue anyone...but this should set an example. ....as for the cages...I know it was a joke, but as long as they cage the players & not the fans...the primiere league did that years ago in england and throughout europe...lots of deaths there |

Seriously.....every goal is possible death... I think the problem is that, these days, many fans don't just pay to WATCH a game....they pay to be PART of it. See any hardcore football crowd and how they affect the snap count. See Duke basketball. |

So how does that make Detroit bad fans? If you said SOME Detroiters are bad fans, then I'd respect that comment. When you take a hit at Detroiters, you're taking a hit at the city of Detroit, because the people are what make it work, chief. Dee--- I love you so much. Thank you for pointing out all that I was thinking but too pissed to get out. |
Why was Artest laying on the scorer's table anyways?
Where were the refs? Where was security?   No, I haven't watched the video over and over and very well could've missed something, but...... I just didn't see a) the point for Artest laying on the scorer's table, b) didn't see the refs trying to break up anything, c) didn't see any security trying to break up the riot.   |
