Why didn't Grandmama ever call me by my name? In all the 20 years of my life with her (Granny developed severe Alzheimers in '94 and didn't know who I was from then until she died in '99), she NEVER called me "Kelli" it was always "Sweet." I've noticed other Grannys do the same thing. Why is that?

I was in a corporate class and of course we were in the minority http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif and the instructor showed this video (he liked videos for some reason) to reinforce some of the concepts that were just introduced. Well, one of the videos included a man-on-the-street segment where the interviewees were asked various questions. Do babies and toddlers understand each other whenever they are babbling? Most of the time my son speaks this kind of Chinese-like dialect. I don't understand a word (I just PRETEND that I do). But I have a niece the same age and they seem to carry on conversations when they are together. What's up with THAT?
