I had always heard Christie Brinkley cheated on him, not the other way around. After all, hasn't she had 2 husbands since their divorce?

I'm not even going to comment on the "dirty old man" comment. It just reeks of someone who has little to no life experience.

I thought that, too. I heard that she had cheated on him with the guy that she met when her plane crashed in the mountains who she later married and then divorced.

Good for Billy.

If he's a dirty old man, well, I can only hope to aspire to be wealthy, talented, and attractive enough in my 50s to pull 23 year olds, for serious.

Nope, she was talked about his infidelity quite openly in her Lifetime biography show. She said how difficult it was to protect her young daughter from it.

Also, I believe that the woman he's married to is actually 26.

Don't apologize. You are entitlitled to your opinion, I just dont think its based on anything solid.

Maybe if you elucidated? Why do you think its wrong? Skeevy is an emotional reaction and hard to evaluate.

But if you can't easily explain your rationale its probably not very valid.

These kind of things happen all the time, we just don't hear about it.

I think marrying someone in one's parents' age range is just a little bit creepy. Also, he's 55 years old. Say he and Kate have a baby in two years. He'll be 57, she'll be 25. As wealthy as Billy is, he will still be 57 and at 57, one must be more careful about their health than someone who is 27 or 37. What I'm trying to say is that he might not be able to do the same "daddy-kid" things he might have done with kids from his previous marriage, all because of his age. That isn't all that good, I don't think.

ZTAngel 10-04-2004 12:09 PM

Ok, so let's say he does wait until 57 to have kids (if they even decide to have children). You say that he won't be able to do "daddy-kid" things. I guess you're referring to playing baseball with the kids, running around with them, etc. Who's to say he's not in great physical health? 57 really isn't that old. Maybe if he were in his 70's I would say that he may not be able to do daddy-kid stuff but not in your late 50's/early 60's. I clearly remember my grandfather playing soccer with me when I was younger. He was in his 60's.
Yes, he may have to watch his health more than a 37 year-old father but I think that's for Billy and his wife to determine rather than for us to criticize.
I agree that it is a big age difference but I wouldn't say that it makes him a dirty-old man. They may have found something in each other that they didn't find with anyone in their own age group.

my bad...there were several sources that said she was 26. Aw, who cares, it's only three years.

*continues to bang head on wall*

Cynthia, the fact that you're so damn closed-minded makes me want to throw up.

AlphaGamDiva 10-04-2004 02:23 PM

eh, i wouldn't say he's a "dirty old man" (we all know i would jump at the chance of bein with my gary :) ).....i do think there is a limit, though, to these romances. personally, i would have to say that anna nicole and her 8000 year old hubby were a little on the gross side. taualumna, you're entitled to your opinion....to each his own, right? :D

anyway, best wishes for billy joel and his new bride. :D

ADqtPiMel 10-04-2004 03:16 PM

Who are we to judge who others are attracted to? It's not your life. If you're disgusted by that, then you don't have to date Billy Joel.

I hope they live happily ever after.

Yeah good call. I knew/know a 25 yearold who married some 49 yearold writer guy. He was a jerk she was too good for him.

DeltAlum 10-04-2004 04:51 PM

Well, I can say one thing for sure. Christie didn't have an affair with me.

Damn.

As for marrying someone that young...if he can put up with the lack of experience and maturity, good for him!

Just Kidding.

Ha ha ha...

I bet she wouldn't mind if he stuck his face in front of the air conditioner.
