"i win" is 100% correct - holy jesus.

PS - he def said "I love you" and backed out on it, a dynamite move if I've ever heard one

Oh, it's funny cause it's true.

But it's like winning "most embarassing story" contest with the time you had your skirt tucked into the back of your panties. A bittersweet victory. BUT A VICTORY NONETHELESS.

Man if you guys heard some of the stories. The worst part is, none of them are "bad" guys -- it's not like I get cheated on, or find out he's a felon in six states. It's stuff like Mr. Smoove above, or better yet....

I went on the "Meet the Friends" date (you know the one I mean. Usually about the 4th date?) with Steve the Pharmacist. So I'm talking to his friends and trying to be cute, because that's what I do. And they ask what Steve's told me about himself. I say, "Oh, Steve told me he just recently dropped out of seminary, and I'm the first girl he's dated after realizing he wasn't going to persue the priesthood."

His friends were completely deadpan -- "Yup, wanna play pool?"

So I'm a little confused. Why did no one like my joke? It was funny! My delivery was good! Did no one get it? Am I less funny than I thought? Oh. I'm not funny, am I? I've gone my whole life thinking I'm funny but I'M NOT. Is this what it's like when you realize you smell? Is this --

then I realize, wait a minute. Obviously I am hysterical. Something else is at play here.

Sure enough, the guy WAS in seminary, WAS studying for the priesthood, DID drop out, and I WAS the first girl he'd dated since then.

I can't make this stuff up folks. If it was a book no one would read it because it'd be too unrealistic.

No joke. You sound like my sister and me when we were in our early 20s. We were magnets for weird guys. I thought that it was one of those only in New York things. I'm not sure if it gets better or you just learn to accept the weirdness.

I'm a magnet for really amazing guys......

.....who decide I'm definately not the one.

HotDamnImAPhiMu 09-27-2004 10:56 AM

I hope not. Because if that's true, between me and my future husband my kids will be weirdos.

We've been together for over 6 years now so he's sure now. I still tease him but he seems to have amnesia over the incident. He claims he said "I love you" but I know what I heard. You'd think he'd fess up by now that he said it wrong. :p

He's too funny.

XOMichelle 09-27-2004 01:06 PM

HotDamn, I am rolling with laughter! You have another victory.

Peaches-n-Cream 09-27-2004 01:14 PM

After much consideration,

I've decided that it does get better. The weirdo guys like the weirdo girls so they eventually remove themselves from the dating pool. Plus as you get older, you can spot the signs more quickly and avoid those guys. It's a learning curve. At least you have funny stories to tell now.

I was like, "Ummm...o.k.

I had a bf tell me once, "I think I could love you." Yeah, I didn't stick around long enough to find out. :p

HotDamn still wins though. :D

So are you claiming the weirdos eventually collide in some sort of quantum douchebag incident, removing them permanently from the dating pool? or do they eventually realize how badly they suck, and some sort of seppuku of nerddom occurs, removing them physically from the planet?

I'm confused, cream.

Now I'm confused also.

I think that sometimes these weird people wind up getting together and becoming couples. I guess they don't seem weird to each other. One woman's frog is another woman's prince. ;)

Sometimes they have a moment of clarity, grow up, get their acts together, and stop sucking. I don't know. It's just a theory.

naaaah. I think its more likely that the more tired that people get of the dating game, the more they overlook quirkiness and settle.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I never become one of these people.... I don't want to settle. :p

Ok HotDamn.... Got any more stories? I've probably got some interesting stories, but I don't think any of them will be a match for yours. :)
