I really dont think that its all that serious. I mean if I saw a girl with a nail file/tissuses/thong with her letters I wouldn't think "OMG her letters are on her CROTCH!!" I'd think cool shes so into her GLO that she has everything with her letters on it.

And I think that its much worse to have your letters on a tshirt that says "Cum ride with us-XYZ frat's Hayride 2004"

But I still been there done that and got the tshirt.

Condoms

I remember when some vendor hit the FSU campus trying to sell condoms with letters on it. They were clueless. Not only did they try to sell these to the fraternities, but they tried to sell condoms with letters to the sororities. I'm sure the ladies had a good laugh about it, but FSU is in the South. It just wasn't going to happen.

One of the fraternities on campus has the AIDS foundation as a philanthropy...so they passed out condoms with their nickname (most fraternities on campus prefer their nickname to their letters...ie, Alphabet to ABC) and a random saying on the wrapper.

What do you think of letter tattoos? I know a couple people have them on campus.

I don't have my letters tattooed on me - but I do have a sun (our symbol) with my pledge class letter X in the middle. We have no rule against letter tattoos, but I personally wouldn't want to see any of my sister with one. Not because I think it's inappropriate, but because we were not created to be permanent but to affiliate with a national. Alot of my sisters have Phi Chi related tattoos with our flower, symbol or mascot.

Lol at first I didn't get this cuz I was like "hmmm I got mine because I will forever and always be a Phi Mu" but then I reread and understood what you were saying!

I do have a Phi Mu tattoo. I wanted the badge but the guy couldn't get the quatrefoil right, so he just drew something up for me which is awesome.

That's the best I could take since it's on my back. The banner part goes down and "Mu" is written on that.

i've seen some violet tattoos, but not ones that actually have any form of alpha delta pi on them. during my new member period, i recall told that the greek shot glasses that are sold in the bookstore are not to be used for doing shots

I thought letters on the clittoris ring were pretty daring . . .

It makes me think how interesting that standards hearing might be if the she had to show the evidence.

Right. They're not really shot glasses. They're miniature flower pots.

I always wondered about that. The crest shot glasses. Like why would nationals allow companies to make them.

I wouldn't have any problem with a phoenix, everyone would just think you were a big Stefano DiMera fan LOL. I think that's the way to go if you want to have things like tattoos or piercings - a symbol or mascot that other sisters/brothers will get but not your letters. I think belly button rings are fine, although I think it would look a little silly to have letters dangling from your navel. Thongs are just nasty.

As far as the crest toothpick holders, a lot of times companies make things with no input from the national. That's why the crest sweatshirts I have are not our "real" crest - there are too many sections above the shield and instead of a phoenix, it's an eagle with fire coming out of its butt.

seriously.... or, "wake up under an XYZ... XYZ formal 2004" etc... i think those crazy frat tshirts are a zillion times worse than nail files, etc.

or how about this one i just saw... on the surface, its not bad. but when you think about it, it reinforces bad greek stereotypes:
(on a sorority tee) "i came to college to find my husband... but instead i found my bridesmaids!" ummm... i dont know about her but... i came to college to get an education!!! not to find a husband! sheesh.

Ewww, I don't like that one. I like the "some girls go to college to find their husbands, I came to find my bridesmaids" one. This reminds me of a girl in my High School who senior year told me that she didn't care that much where she went to school because she was only going to college to meet a husband. I was like "that comment just singlehandedly set the women's rights movement back by like at least a hundred years."

I can remember a Standards Hearing for a woman who had done something seriously stupid, and seeing that she had our crest tattooed on her ankle. After the hearing, we all discussed, "what would have happened had her membership been cancelled? Who would pay for the debrasion?" It started out as a joke, but it quickly became not so funny.

As for the shot glasses, I think this is a classic reason why you'll see more and more GLOs lean towards stricter licensing for their letters, crests, etc.

I don't particularly care for:

ANY undergarments with letters
butt letter shorts/pants
shot glasses
belly button rings
tongue rings
sports bras
toilet paper or tissues (I don't want to wipe my nose/behind with my letters)
