His movie is pretty technically profficient.
Where he is a genius is that he is using really emotive imagery to get across a very simple message. I can see why there is a lot of confusion, his documentary really crossed into the mainstream. I doubt if a lot of the people that saw his movie has seen anything but a historical documentary, in passing, while flipping through channels. Note: A lot of the film school students I have met from the better schools seem a trifle snobby towards people that didn't attend film school. |

Well there are a lot of people in the industry that made good films and lots of money and never attended film school.
That being said: I would recomend anyone go to film school if you know you want to make films prior to your undergrad. IT also makes sense to attend film school in a major market such as LA and NYC. You pay for the contacts even more than the education. Quote:

I enjoyed Roger and Me until seeing BFC. BFC is a HUGE propaganda flick. It concerned me that there were so many deceptions in it. I hesitate to call them lies because Moore never comes out and tells you what he did, he just presents it in such a way that you will assume what you saw is true. I have debated gun control and the Second Amendment for longer than many of you have been alive and can tell you that Moore put so much garbage in that movie that it is nothing more than a huge lie.

I guess I'm showing typical Clifornia liberal (although not quite as liberal as Mr. Moore) side but.. == shrugs == I dunno I kinda like him. He came to my school last year and spoke and I own an autographed copy of Bowling for Columbine.
When I heard him speak I have to admit I didn't agree with SOME of what he said... but his general message (at least what I got out of his speech) getting off our asses and not being apathetic. I agree with that... maybe not with everything else he says, but at the very least he gets people involved who may not have been involved before. I think the film kids at my school are part of the reason he came. Course I wouldn't think that quite liberal California and an ESPECIALllY liberal campus such as my alama mater would be the norm throughout America. Even if you don't like his films or don't think you'll agree with what he has to say,I still recommend seeing him speak because I know he got me thinking and researching some things on my own and what's most important is that we don't just take for granted everything we hear on TV or in the Newspaper, we have to go to several sources and come to our own conclusions. -I will step down from my soap box now - |
I thought he was hilarious.
