My class didn't have five or ten year reunions. We have a school reunion. I attended in 2001 when only two of us from my class attended. I received an invitation for the 80th anniversary of my school about two weeks before it was scheduled so I didn't attend. Last week I received another invitation to another 80th anniversary reunion. Maybe I will attend and represent my class.

i'm sort of in a unique situation with this. i went to school my entire life at one school in pa, but graduated hs in ohio. i moved about 2wks before sr. year.

soooooo, my reunion time is going to be different. didn't have a 5yr at either, but will most likely have a 10. although i honestly will only ever go to the one in pa. a few weeks back i was at a friend's wedding in pa and actually saw a lot of old hs friends/foe, etc. i even talked to my old hs class advisor and found out that the reason we didn't have a 5yr was b/c the historian for our class (the one responsible for planning it) was getting married to her hs sweetheart that summer.
anyhow, my class advisor said he doesn't know if we'll end up having a 10yr reunion, but i really hope we do b/c i really really want to see how everyone turned out. i also want to be catty and go back and show everyone how well i've done. (seeing as how a lot of the b*tches in my class only got their associates and i'm getting my second bs :D God i'm catty!) no i wasn't overly popular and quite frankly some of these people made my hs career hell, but i really do want to know how they turned out.

Very funny that I stumbled upon this thread the day I got my invite for my ten year! It'll be next year, but I'm already feeling really old!

I'm really curious to see how many people actually show up...we had almost a 1000 in the class!

My mom told me she saw something in the paper a while back about my class having a five year reunion, but I havent heard anything more about it since.

I dont think they got a very good response so they decided to ditch the whole idea.

I prob wouldnt have gone anyways, all I have to do is go by the wal mart at home, or something and i see most people, or i hear things from various friends about so and so.

My 10 year reunion was last fall.

It sucked.

Hard.

- Only about 40 people showed up out of a graduating class of ~230
- The DJ was way too loud. Uh, you go to a reunion to catch up, not to be deafened by bad music.
- The food was so-so
- The bar only had the cheap stuff. The "2 hour" open bar ended 15 minutes early and converted to a vastly overpriced cash bar.
- There were 5 separate reunions being run by the same reunion company in the same area, in adjoining rooms separated only by air walls.
- We could optionally submit a bio of what we'd been up to the past 10 years, to be printed in the program. They wouldn't print mine because I refused to release my street address. (If you'd known some of the people I graduated with, you'd know why I withheld my address!)
- It was expensive - more than half again what we paid for our prom, which was at a MUCH nicer venue. (Yeah, prom was 10 years earlier - even so.)

I'm not sure if I'll be going to my 20th. If the 20th is run by the same people who ran the 10th, though, NFW am I going.

My 10 year reunion is next year. I recently got email from our senior class president sort of letting me know about it, verifying my contact info, etc. I was pretty impressed, I always liked her, but didn't know if we'd ever actually have a reunion - she wasn't organized that way :p

I'll probably go, because I live fairly close. Most of the people I would want to see probably won't go, though.

I went to my 20 year reunion last fall. The women all looked exactly the same and I didn't recognize any of the men, so I was glad for the name tags. They'd all gotten taller, rounder and had a lot less hair. I socialized with a lot of people and it was great to catch up with some folks. I only keep in regular contact with my 3 closest friends and run into a couple here and there in the community. I spent most of the time talking with the guy who taught me how to play euchre in physics class. He had a friend with him and I introduced myself to him, saying that I didn't think I'd had him in any classes (we had over 700 in our class). He told me he was in that physics class too but that he was kind of a wallflower in high school. I said that I was too, and the first guy laughed so hard he choked on his beer. I had perceived myself as very quiet and shy, not coming out of my shell until college, but apparently others didn't perceive me that way!

Quote:

Generally, the five and ten-year class reunions are the 'show off' reunions; most alumni have graduated from college and have started their careers and families.
I honestly agree with this. When I attended my 10th reunion, I felt as if some of the people there were desperately trying to make-up for a lost decade by acting snooty. Good grief.
