carebear,
thatgirl has given you great information... but suppliments are not the way to go (Metabolife). Things like that are not life threatening, but they give you false effects. They suppress your appetite and "burn fat". Well to tell you the truth the only reason the you loose weight is because you are starving yourself. There's no quick way to loose weight and keep it off. Your body is like a car, it needs fuel (food) to work. It's not so much of how much you eat, it's HOW you eat. For example, instead of fried chicken, bake it. Take in alot of fruits and veggies and drink ALOT of water. You should cut back on starchy foods (carbs). I know that you need to cut back, almost everybody eats more carbohydrates than they should and don't even think about it. Example: the food guide pyramid says to eat 6-11 servings of carbs a day. Did you know that a serving of carbs is 1 SLICE of bread or a cup of COOKED rice? Cardio exerise is the key to a successful weight loss. Without this, it will be harder to keep the weight off. If you can do at least a 1/2 hour of constant exercise a day (three days a week at least) starting off, you are on your way to a successful weight loss. This is just a little bit of stuff I know. I majored in Sports Medicine in college and I am a trainer now. If you need any more information email me or reply. Please excuse any misspelled words or anything else that is wrong...I'm ready to go to bed but I had to check and see what you ladies were talking about tonight!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ Set your goal!! Strive!! Bask in your reward!! Positive Kay |
Thanks Ladies (thatgirl & positive kay) for your encouraging and supportive feedback it means a lot. It's just so hard to lose weight especially now that I'm getting older (wow 20 is old http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif).
Thanks again |

hello all,
with regards to metabolite.........NO, NO, NO i can not stress that enough. it makes your body work harder then it has to and has not been tested by the fda. also a few weeks ago there was a special on the news about a girl that took it and had a premature stroke. weight lose.. there is no quick fix, you have to modify your behavior and do this for the rest of your life. also exercise is very important. if you are trying to lose weight then you must exercise 3x weekly for 45min -1 hour. if you are trying to maintain then exercise is to be done 3x weekly for 30 min. also you need to find out what your max requirements are for calories, protein and fat and not exceed them. this will help: www.cyberdiet.com click on nutritional assessments. and remember that weight loss should never be more than 1-2 pounds weekly. drink lots of water also. if anyone wants to email me i'm at crystal@flower.aud.temple.edu i also posted a message like this on the aka messege board. i hopes this helps. rc collington-- nutritionist MS |

if possible would you email me crystal@flower.aud.temple.edu i just noticed that we are in the same field. |
As a person that is trying to lose weight, I have found that I can't diet, I have to change my eating style completely. Now we have healthy exchanges for some things. Instead of potato chips, I eat baked tostitos and salsa ( salsa is only 15 calories), If I have for ice cream, I eat healthy choice ice cream or frozen yogurt. I found out you have to eat breakfast. I also eat two snacks so you won't get real hungry between meals and overdo it when you finally get to eat. Drink plenty of water and if you gotta have a soft drink, try Crystal Light it's only 5 calories a glass. Now when I shop I get everything lowfat or fat free. All that water will have you going back and forth to the bathroom, but now I sort of embrace going so often because I know why. I also do a lot of walking. This plan is working for me well. I have recently lost 84 pounds and I am going strong. One thing I was taught was that when I lose a few pounds, I reward myself with a dish that I love. That gives you incentive to keep on doing what you are doing.

Hey carebear:
Please e-mail me personally. Thank you. By the way, weight training is also very helpful in maintaining weight. Lean muscle burns more calories that fat (not to mention sculpting the body) and a successful weight training regimen along with cardivascular training (as Positive Kay stated) and diet of course, will work wonders. As I stated earlier, I am also a personal trainer and fitness instructor. Let us know how it goes. Positive Kay: Where are you training and in what city do you reside (if you don't mind me asking). I just realized that we all must have been responding at the same time because I returned to the page and there were several more messages there. Her_Story: I will e-mail you personally real soon. I read your opinion in the AKA forum on the same topic originally posted by the same girl and I found it interesting. I will definitely e-mail you!!! PEACE [This message has been edited by DELTABRAT (edited August 03, 2000).] |

I am ure that I will loose SOMETHING! (?) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif This thread just got me really excited! Is TyBo the way to go?! |
Yes, Taebo is the way to go. It is hard to start off with, but DON'T let that discourage you. Once you get going, it becomes easier. You have to keep in mind what your goal is a how you want to look. Do it, girl!!
