Did Michael regan speak yet? wasn't it last night? i missed it and wanted to hear what he had to say...i thought there would of been buzz ont he mrning news about his speech last nigth ....but that Zany crazy zell stole the show

No that was Bush, Sonny Purdue and Saxby Chamblis. Miller still had democrat leanings in views then. But when Republicans won more seats than usual and won the Governor position in Georgia for the first time since the Civil war, Zell became a Republican that calls himself a Democrat. He didn't run for re-election because he probably would have gotten voted out because of his switch. Sonny and Saxby are in a low point of popularity because of Georgia's economy and Sonny not bringing back the old Georgia flag like he promised so he could get to votes to win.

OK all joking aside want to tell me why you're saying Miller is a Republican now? He is strong like defense just like Lieberman. Lieberman however is a strong Democrat and was considered the most centrist Democrat since Clinton. People say that sometimes about Lieberman. They will probably soon say it about Ed Kotch also.

Having lived in the state he is from and he represents I know his voting on issues has shifted from "liberal" to a conservative that leans to the left. If you look at his record as governor his views and votes on certain issues has changed. Economic policy, defense and education to name a few. Granted he was always big on defense since this is a big defense state because of the many milatary bases we have here. His stance on it has gotten tougher. Maybe 9/11 caused that. I really think because the political tide changed in the state after the 2002 election he switched his views. I don't think he will ever switch parties since he has been with the Democrats so long. But as a congressman he is consistantly one of the only or very few that vote along the republican party line. And has often voted against "democrat issues" There was a article in the AJC awhile back showing how much his voting has changed since 2002. If I can find the article online I will post it.

OK I'd like to read it. But do you understand what I'm saying about Lieberman? People had said the same stuff about him. Heck they said McCain was a Democrat. That's phooey if you look at their voting records.

Yes I see what you mean. People say that about them because sometimes they cross party lines on some issues. Miller crosses party line 90% of the time past the 2002 elections.

Funny since this is the man that was being considered as VP to run with Gore in the last election.

Well here's the thing though. Quite a bit of what he's supported has been supported off and on by Democrats, including Kerry. That is the frustrating part about Kerry.

Now let's say that Zell just hates Democrats now. Let's forget about how other Democrats vote and Zell's voting record. What caused him to hate Democrats?

All I can give you is a educated guess.
I don't think he hates Democrats or he would have switch parties. I think Zell is thinking of a politcal future. A state governement that was usually Democrats made a change in 2002. Zell goes were the politcal wind blows. He probably thinks it will get him a cabinet job if someone resigns or he can run for President in 2008 and have support from both parties. If he didn't run on a Democrat ticket he might get a vice pres offer from the GOP in 2008 just like Kerry might have tried with McCain.

SOP in any major attack is to protect the leadership so they CAN continue to lead. Did you want Bush to go straight to NYC or DC and possibly get killed? Very, when you are not as familiar w/ the terrain as people who have lived there for 20 years and there are several tribes protecting him, usually w/ "playing possum" techniques to sneak people and supplies around. The other issue is that the USA tries to prevent collateral damage, and those mofos know it. When you're disguising your troops as civilians, or hiding arms in places of worship, you're creating a no-win situation for the other guy - and they know it. Agreed, but thats not how they let him slip away. Many of the generals who were in charge of the operation in Afghanistan now openly admidt that their mistakes let Osama slip away into Pakistan. Specifically, to limit US casaulties, they let the Afghan Northern Alliance be the first into Kabul, The NA wasnt specifically interested in OBL. They were going after the leaders of the Taliband. And half-heartedly at that. In this window, OBL paid Mosque leaders in the border area for protection and not so quietly (convoys of 300- 600 vehicles) slipped into Pakistan. Military leaders now acknowledge that they should have secured the border areas first to seal them.

War on Terror? GWB has taken a sympathetic world and turned it against us.
Sympathetic in word only, never in deed. No big loss, IMHO. It is a big loss. History has proven time and again that a policy of American isolationism has negative consequences for the US. Sympathetic in word only? Think back to your US History class from college (Pre-Civil War). Remember that had it not been for the French (being sympathetic and supportive and all) we'd still be Brittish subjects.

So what? At least the Republican party is willing to tolerate discussion of hot-button special interests right on the convention floor. The Democrats censor any dissenters from their party line. IMHO, that's much worse. So what? What is that? The third grade playground debate strategy? You can do better than that. And yeah, hot button issues? Remind me, when was the debate on supporting/not supporting gay marrage scheduled for? I guess I missed that. Hell, I am impressed they have now allowed pro-choice Republicans to at least speak from the podium.

Only terrorists breed more terror. It's a choice and an organized effort. If GWB was the only one at fault, why did the terrorists kidnap FRENCH journalists??? You'd think the French would be their buddies. NO, using YOUR flawed logic, YOU'D be the only one thinking the French were their buddies (because they didnt go to war with us). You are locked in that whole 'youre with us or against us' simplistic logic. Actually, France isnt a popular place with Islamic Millitants right now, especially with the recent action of the French Government banning the wearing of traditional islamic wear in public schools.

Just because someone doesn't go out and mug for cameras every other hour doesn't mean he's hiding. Sometimes people do their jobs without calling a press conference. I'll keel over if the "Internet Generation" ever understands this topic. Baby, I'm a 30 year old grown-ass man. I am not a part of the 'internet-generation' (I was 21 when they first created a graphical interface for www addresses). But youre right. That last one was just a cheap shot at Cheney. I dont like him much. I think he's a bully.
