derty! yup with an -er. |
I have such an aversion to any type of sauce, particularly flavorful ones like hot sauce. I am thanking my lucky stars that my mom is smarter than this, because if this was ever done to me, I would be an absolute MESS.
I would not ever do this to my child. It's downright ridiculous. |
Hot sauce (I prefer Cholula) is good on so many things, but I can't say I've ever tried it on tongue of child.

Mmmmm, tongue of child. |
Don't really see the problem with it. Similar to getting your mouth washed out -- had that happen to me on occasion. I turned out okay.
I would have just enjoyed the hot sauce though. I'd have a sudden need to get some chips or something though. |
I probably would have enjoyed the hot sauce too. I've never heard of hot saucing before now.
|
I wouldn't ever do it, but then I wouldn't go the soap route either.
My thought on "hot-saucing" is that it could cause a reverse reaction making the child fearful of hot sauce itself - doesn't really accomplish the goal. |
It makes me think of when my god-daughter was a toddler. She wanted the hot mustard at the Chinese restaurant. We told her no, it was hot, but she just kept on. Finally her dad dipped a spoon in it and gave it to her. She ate it and immediately clapped both hands over her mouth and cried silently. She never tried it again. However, she did love the hot sauce and chips at the Mexican places! Bless her heart, she graduated from college and got married last month, so I'm guessing we didn't damage her too much.

My aunt has actually disaplined my cousins with hot sauce. So I've heard of it.
I wasn't too much of a talker, but if I was I got soap. Or a swat on the backside. Though back to the hot sauce punishment... it makes me think back to Mrs. Doubtfire when Pierce's character requested no pepper, because he was allergic to it, on his dinner. And if you have seen the movie, you know what happens. It just strikes me as scary if a child is allergic to pepper unbeknownst to the parents and he/she gets hot sauced. |
When I 1st read hot-saucing I thought you were talking about putting hot sauce on someone's lips&in their mouth when they pass out. I've done something similar similar to my dog when she begged for food at the table& it worked.
Just my $.01354946 worth Mark |
I never got hot sauced. Mama and Daddy believed in the good old fashioned ASS WHOOPIN'.
|
IVORY SOAP!!! Just one bite out of the block...thats all that it takes! If that doesn't work, a spakin' surely will!!!
Time out just wasn't big at my house when growing up |
My parents didn't do it for punishment but they did use hot sauce to make my sister stop sucking her thumb. The doctor recommended sticking my sister's thumb in hot sauce in the evenings when she used to suck it the most. She'd stick it in her mouth and scream. After a few days she stopped sucking her thumb.

Say "YES" To Hot Saucing
I used to get "hot sauced" when I was good... and on Christmas morning. It was a treat in our house.
