Yes, the Sky Show is broadcasted as well as "Living It Up With Pattie LaBelle."

I LOVE TV One

Here in Columbus, Insight picked up TVOne back in June (but then again, we have 3 black radio stations owned by RadioOne--TVOne's sister company, and I know that RadioOne pushed HARD for this station to be added to the lineup.

Granted the programming lineup is kinda dry right now, but then again, it's only 7(?) months old. Give it time to grow, it's headed in the right direction. And oh yes, I LOVE watching Good Times.

ttt - Certain nuance about TVOne that I like

I belong to a Yahoo Group called the Closing Logo Group, a group dedicated to the preservation of old closing TV logos (Columbia, Paramount, Viacom, Universal, etc.), and the topic was brought up about TVOne and the 227/Embassy Television logo. Anyway, I posted something, that while it was slightly off topic pertaining to the group, I thought it would be relevant to this thread:

Quote:

TV shows that air on African-American networks (BET, TVOne) are
pretty good at keeping their shows and closing credits/logos
intact. Meaning that unlike N@N or TVLand, you don't see shows that
are cutting 24-26 minute episodes into 20-22 minutes for more
commerical time and miss portions of dialogue you may have liked for
whatever reason. Also, there are no split screens, credit crunches,
or voiceovers for some promo(s) that has been announced ad nauseum.

In addition, contestant and fee plugs have remained (for the most
part, intact. For instance, It's Showtime At The Apollo (which has
retained its Western Internation Syndication logo intact), has kept
its Amateur Night contestant plugs, albiet blacked out with
the "Please do not send tapes to this address" disclaimer (it is
still on the air today, however audition tapes are to be sent to
another address), and has kept its Amateur Night consolation prize
fee plugs at the close of the show.

So expect future shows that air on TVOne to be more friendly with
the preservation of not only the closing logos, but with the actual
show's original content as well. Enjoy!

Long live TVOne!

Folks,

I must eat my own original words (See earlier post), because TVOne offers some pretty good up-to-date shows. They're a much better network for African Americans.

I hope that they keep up the good work!

Meant to come back right after the holidays and post here, but when I got back from North Carolina from Christmas break, I turned on the TV and guess what's in the lineup but TV One! I was very pleasantly surprised, and spent more days during that break watching it to see what it was about.

I haven't watched it a whole lot, but I'm just glad to know it's there. I did catch G. Garvin this morning with his "rice" episode. Now the brotha made some rice pudding, which I have NEVAH, EVAH liked, but when he started making it, he said that you've never seen rice pudding like his. I gotta admit, I was 'bout ready to open up a box and get to cookin' some rice. He made that stuff look sooooooo good! He had broken oreos as well as walnuts in it, and also used chocolate and caramel (I think it was) syrup in it.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna really like TV One!

Ladies,

G. Garvin is pleasing on the eyes!

Question. Who is G. Garvin? Is he the one who cooks?

txdiva 05-11-2005 11:16 AM

I love G. Garvin's show! He is a trip! I also like Livin' It Up w/Patti LaBelle.

SeriousSigma22 05-11-2005 08:56 PM

Sorhor Bluereign,

He's the one that cooks! He has a restaurant in California and a wonderful style that will make you want to eat anything that his hands have touched. Finally, we can watch a strong black role model for a lot of folks and he's blazing an amazing trail for the young and the seasoned.

Oh, OK! I have tried some of his cooking suggestions and didn't even know his name!:o

Prissy Poodle 05-26-2005 12:07 AM

I LOVE TVOne! I watch it more often than BET on any given day! I think for the length of time the network has aired, it's doing pretty well...I do agree that it needs time to develop an even better & more consistent line up. I've missed Get the Hook Up lately...does it still come on?

SeriousSigma22 05-28-2005 02:39 PM

Sorhor Prissy Poodle,

I don't know about "Get the Hook Up!" but I do enjoy Cathy Hughes' interviews with prominent stars. I really enjoyed her latest interview with the Queen.

BET is just trash like it's other video networks, MTV, and VH1. They don't really uplift anyone and they're clowning and insulting to African Americans!
