Greetings and kudos to all the GreekChat Brothers who attended the General Assembly and contributed to making it such a success. It was great to meet many of you and finally to put a face with a name.

Six months before the GA we weren’t sure whether we would have any legislation at all. It was amazing how smoothly the Committees and then the entire body handled this massive amount of work – a seamless operation that resulted in some important steps forward for the Fraternity. The way our Brothers expressed strongly their good faith differences of opinion on critical issues but then came together at the end for the good of the Fraternity was truly inspiring.

I am pleased to hear that some of you are considering volunteering for service on Committees at the International level. It’s a gratifying experience and it will give you the chance to meet and get to know some great Brothers from around the country. I look forward to seeing all of you again at future events (hopefully, with a little more time to relax and carry on a conversation).

lol, that would be a funny pic with you and lynn tom, tall and short, i would like to thank lynn for sitting in on my comittee meeting as he and kip z, helped us greatly as to see exactly what the GHZ intended with some of the bills and ammendments, as in such wording, it is not always easy to see the practical application of the bill/ammendment sometimes.

Since all you guys did was sit around and "BS" in legislative
sessions, I guess its up to me to mention the "other" GA....
the seminars were GREAT! (most of them anyway)...alot
of sharing of ideas and good information presented.

I esp. liked the "early bird" workshop on "ritual in daily life"...
the presenter didn't show up...looked like a washout....
but then an alum brother (forgot his name, but he was
the one whose birthday was announced at banquet)
got up and just "did it!"...turned out to be one of the
best workshops of GA! The one on the new alumni
ritual was informative too (since I hadn't heard anything
about it!)

the only other brother from our chapter was the
undergrad delegate....he wanted to go to the workshops
instead of legis. sessions...would have been nice if
we could have "swapped"...he needed the seminars
more than I did.

I talked to someone on the planning committee for the
2009 Centennial celebration (again, I can't remember
names)...sounds like they've got some real good stuff
planned....will be in Indy again in 2009. If any of you
know who is on the that committee, lemme know...
I'd like to help with some of the historical stuff
(one idea: have brothers re-enact some "scenes"
from our founding).

I'd love to serve the Fraternity in a great capacity than as a member... but I need to settle first, and establish myself. I have always felt that I have an important and unique perspective to give to Lambda Chi Alpha... being I think the 3 or 4 oldest initiate at the chapter (well second oldest since WW2), and as a Canadian brother...

Well now that I have settled into a new job, I'll be able to attend more Fraternity conferences and assemblies.. unfortunately this years fell right on job transfer time and my annual physical at the Veteran's Hospital (they will not budge on scheduling).

Two things stick out in my mind more than anything else...

Being able to have my wife see almost all of the festivities and having her understand and sense the passion that keeps us all so involved.

Turning around after receiving my Order of Merit from Larry Brinkley and see a standing ovation...it still gives me chills, just thinking about it.

I was becoming such a blur that all I saw were young men, (kids) to some of us. Tall and short is how I started to catagorize them!

I think, I was in the minority of Adults, Oldsters, as 5 %!

I am not sure, but the only one who was older than me was Gearge S! At 81, He is in a lot better shape than I am!:cool:

It was such a fun time meeting so many young men from all over the country with The Same Passion that I have for LXA!

I thought it was a HOOT that LX Z is not the only one who does magic carpet ride, but All Zetas. Silly maybe, but a thread that is one of the many bonds between all of us.

How Brothers there helped Brothers frome one barrowing my Coat to two Brothers sharing their dip. That is what it is all about, the little things that mean The Big Thing, LXA!:cool:

Perhaps you can help on something...apparently I'm on the History committee - but have received NO communication since the committee formed. I am still very interested in serving, but it hard when no one tells you what needs to be done or when...


As for everyone else at GA - just know that I was sitting at home fuming that I couldn't attend. Just a chance to attempt drinking lifesaver under the table, or Earp, for that matter, would have been worth the cost (no doubt I would have lost either way, it's been a LONG time since I tried to keep up in that department with anybody....), and I'm sure Earp could have consoled my defeat with fine tobacco products...AIGH!!!!!!!

I'd like to know which of you may have met any of the brothers from Northern Colorado...the HA came by today to tell me how awesome it was (made me even MORE jealous)....and that he met some guys "who knew you from a website" - but couldn't remember names...

lifesaver and I finnaly got together in Jono and my room the last night!

God, you have to meet him, we spent a lot of time together and I was glad, He is a Great Young (? on Young?) Brother who I am very Proud to call Him That.

It was neat to become an honoraryy Texican even thouhg I lived in Tyler when Dad was in Boot Camp there for WWII! Yep, I am that Mature!

But, setting with Brothers from the two Zetas UT- S A, and Saint Marys-U Incarnet Word Colony, was rather neat! :cool: Great Young Men All!

Being a native Texan, I would have appreciated at least a call to be able to cast a ballot on making Earp an Honorary (ahem!) Texan....

It does make one heck of a Night lite!

Thanks for the compliment Tom. I'll take being called young ANYDAY. Proud to call you a brother too. You are a hoot, and ya tell it like it is.

Yeah, we dotn just give everyone the right to be called Texan. lol. It was Incarnate Word, UT-San Antonio, St. Mary's, and UT-Austin. Our table was full or else we wouldda had Texas State, Angelo State and Texas A&M Kingsville.

All us Texas kids had to sit together so we could represent. Its only just started. Give us 5-10 years and EVERY Texas Zeta will rock. Forget the Phi Delts. They will no longer be synonymous with Texas and Greek. It will be Lambda Chi. Soon, the two strongest Alumni Associations will be in Texas (Dallas and San Antonio). Then we move on to Houston. Recolonize at U of H and get a strong alumni association there. Texas will be the powerhouse in Lambda Chi. We will go back to Tech, and colonize at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Sam Houston State and Texas A&M - Commerce. This will be accomplished through networking and developing networks of support amongst the Zetas. OK, so HQ wont foster regionalism? Fine. We can do it ourselves. Just speaking of ourselves, we have 10 Zetas within a 3 hour drive of SA. Thats a lot of power, and when we become self aware, theres nothing we cant accomplish.

Anyway, enjoy your neon Tom. Jauergi did a good job with them. Like the free PR the chapter gets from it.

Hi, boys...I'm back from my week of interfraternal meandering (SAE on Monday, Sigma Chi Tuesday-Friday). My photos will start showing up this weekend.

As a side-note, I visited the chapter house @ Kansas in Lawrence today. It's pretty sad--evidently, they've been condemned because of mold infestation throughout the foundation (as relayed by a Theta Chi down the street). The whole place is boarded up & looks like it went through a fire.

Time to pass out from the extended travels/travails--later.

Great pix. The first one out the window reminded me of the blue crane to the right. I watched that dude up there swaying back and forth, back and forth. Never did see him come and go.

The one with Doc, you, and your wife is great! No shaking at all! Who took that one? (just kidding)

The best is the banner. Tom and I already talked about having snagged it. I'll bet it cost a fortune, though. We would never do that.
