I'm suprised no one has thrown in a Simpson's quote....
"Everybody knows that the best bands are affiliated with Satan.":D Ah but seriously I tend to like my entertainment secular, as I consider religion something personal. |

And they're are some pretty awesome Christian rock groups in my opinion- like Skillet and Relient K. You should check 'em out. |
Also, in my town we have Air-One, a national Christian radio station that plays Christian rock. We've also got K-Love, it's sister station. Air-One is a little more youth-oriented, more rock. They're both contemporary Christian music stations. Anybody else listen to either of them?

Surprise, Surprise
Christian music is all I listen to now. Rap, rock, contemporary - everything. Why, I'm listening to Switchfoot right now. :)
Its all the same (beat, tempo, etc.) except for the lyrics. Here is Kansas, we have a bus load of Christian oriented stations - K-Love, American Family Radio, Air-1, along with locally owned stations ran by churches and such. I think I may play Superchick next. |

very cool. i like skillet too. some people do not understand. but there is just something about contemporary christian music that just makes you feel good. it gives you a kind of happiness that you can't get from any ole music. don't get me wrong, i love jessica simpson, christina aguilera, stone temple pilots, etc. but i still have to listen to dc talk, michael w. smith, audio adrenaline,....too:D |
I like christian rock but I'm more of a Praise and Worship person. Give me some Vineyard, Donnie McClurkin, Chris Tomlin and the Passion people, Third Day, MercyMe, SonicFlood, Hezekiah Walker, Fred Hammond, Yolanda Adams, Mike Redman, Caemon Call, Cross Movement and I'm good. I like secular music but the cds I've bought lately have all be Christian except for the Roots (and Jill Scott when I get some extra money)

I thought it would be an oxymoron.
Isn't Rock synonymous, with booze, sex, violence, and drugs? I mean without those things whats the point? I mean it would be like making Gospel music about whoring. It just ceases to be gospel music at that point. |

oh geez, you sound like my southern baptist high school. you are correct in saying that Rock is synomous with sex and drugs. i just look at Rock for the music. shall we call it 'guitar driven christian music'? anywho, there are some amazing bands out there that are too hard for the straitlaced gospel crowd, but it has to appeal to the young crowd somehow. |

i LOVE him. i have his cd and video, 'squint', and i adore it. he is so strange and his lyrics are crazy, but they are really powerful when you listen to it closely. he is a genius.:D |

I got to work for him during a summer festival in PA. This is a man who is comfortable in his own skin. I've been a fan since "...Clone" (Fav song: Harder to Believe than Not To from "I Predict") Did you ever notice ----- he couldn't carry a tune in a Kate Spade but he's got some of the best lyrics out there? ;) --add |

I dunno.
When you take out the extreme violence, drugs, hatred and misogyny from Rap it just seems inspid. Quote:
