My first (and hopefully only!) ticket cost me 155 bucks. It was in Pennsylvannia (I'm a native New Yorker though so I'm sure his eyes got all gaga over my out of state plates) when I was driving back to Valpo (in Indiana) back in... November I think it was. I was going 82 in a 65 (17 miles over).
Yeah that one hurt the wallet a bit. I try to stay around 75ish now when I'm on Interstate 80. Cops don't seem to mind that. |
I am sorry your day was starting poorly but is it really necessary to call the cop an asshole or an asswipe. Both people on here who insulted cops admitted to doing well over the speed limit. That would means the cops were doing THEIR JOBS. So basically, sucks that you all got caught.
I'm not trying to be a bitch, it really sucks that you guys all got tickets, I've had a few. But maybe we should respect cops instead of name calling for doing what they are supposed to be doing. And theres no need to be further insulting to their faces, unless of course they are being insulting to you as well. |
I got a ticket last night ( at 3:55 am! ) for parking the wrong way in front of my own house! Fvcking cops and their quotas, its rediculous...

Well this is all true. You can't really blame them for giving you aticket nd doing their job, I guess.
But keep in mind: Police, and their families, do not get tickets if pulled over, except in rare exceptions. So in fact, they are giving you a citation they wouldn't get themselves. Remember that everytime you get pulled over for something relatively trivial. In NJ, they just raised the fine on failure to mpresent documents to 177 dollars. So if you left your registration card at home, its a 177 dollar fine with no plea bargain. And the kicker is that as soon as they run your plates they know your car is registered  Quote:

Cops and their families can get tickets. Mr. SSS is a cop and frequently warns me to slow down when I'm driving because he can't help me if I get pulled over.
There are no quotas. But it looks like a cop isn't doing his job if he doesn't give out tickets when all the other officers in the department do. |

I have a really outstanding driving record, with only three moving violations in 40 years of driving. The first violation was within weeks of first getting my license.
Every time I've been stopped or been in an accident (never my fault -- thankfully), the police have been highly respectful and very professional. I am always respectful to them as well. My daughter was once stopped by a real jerk once on the way to a dance at school, and I complained to the County Sheriff whom I had met a couple of times. Two of the officer's superiors got back to me right away. They said he must have had a bad day because he's a really good guy. I told them that was fine, and I didn't want him punished -- but just wanted him to know how his attitude affected young adults and their respect for the police. Which is a long way of saying I don't like to hear police referred to as a$$holes either. If you're breaking the law and get caught, they're just doing their jobs -- and their jobs aren't easy. |
I just renewed my licence in Illinois. Four years ago, about a month after I'd renewed my license, I got a speeding ticket. $75. Not my first, but this time I decided to merely pay it and not go to traffic school like I did when I got pulled over in Chicago (that was my second pull-over but first ticket). Anyway, since I'd had a ticket, I had to RETAKE the written driving test. Fifteen signs plus 20 ABC questions.
I got three wrong (two were skidding and aquaplaning, one was how far in advance to do your turn signal). Luckily, that was passing. So keep in mind that you may have to retake your test if you've gotten a speeding ticket! |

Downtown Nashville: Four-way intersection
Light was yellow, I turn. Apparently, the cop had nothing better to do on a Friday night. He made a U-turn and pulled me over. $50, ridiculous...only ticket I've ever had... Get a clue (or some common sense) cops. |
